Ultra® Bit Cleaner and Freshener

This bit applies tongue pressure and is less likely to pinch the bars of the mouth and tongue due to the mouth design. The mouth is curved allowing for more tongue room. The independent side movement is great for working each side of the horse’s mouth individually.

Comments about FES Wide Barrel Curved Eggbutt Snaffle:

If you want to try an unported Myler comfort snaffle but don't want to spent $90 on a bit that might not work for your horse, this is a good way to try out the concept. It's not super high quality, but it's not cheaply made or unbalanced and it won't pinch your horse's mouth. This bit is good for a horse who doesn't like a lot of motion from a bit but isn't comfortable in a mullen or ported bit.

Comments about FES Wide Barrel Curved Eggbutt Snaffle:

This is a nice quality bit for a good price but it was not a good fit for my gelding. He normally takes a 5 in but this one seemed to big and sloppy. He just was not happy with it. I switched back to a lozenge snaffle and he's much happier. Nice bit but not for my horse.

Comments about FES Wide Barrel Curved Eggbutt Snaffle:

Of all the bits that my boy has had, his trainer says that Shah likes this one best. I ride leisure but he's in schooling as an Eventer so it makes me feel happy that it is beneficial for his schooling and that he's happy with it. Smooth as silk on his tongue! And it has no 'rings' that can pinch and he can concentrate going 'on the bit' aka 'between the aids' (hands and legs of trainer).

My 10 yr old Warmblood mare loves this bit. I have tried a french snaffle, regular snaffle, and low port, she tossed her head with all of them. With this one she does not toss her head and responds well.

              Stainless Steel

Bits are most commonly made of stainless steel. Stainless steel can be cleaned and polished repeatedly without damaging the finish. It is strong, durable, and flavorless and does not impact salivation. Some stainless steel mouths are inlaid with copper.

              Copper

Copper encourages salivation to increase the sensitivity of the horse’s mouth. It warms up quicker than stainless steel in cold weather.

              Sweet Iron

Sweet iron is cold-rolled steel. The material appears rusty after repeated use. This oxidation tastes sweet to the horse and increases salivation.

              Rubber

Rubber softens the action of the bit as it is softer than traditional metals. Rubber-covered bits are generally thicker than metal.

              Aluminum

Aluminum is lightweight and easy to maintain.

              Plastic

Plastic bits are softer than traditional metal bits and they are durable. Many plastic bits are scented or flavored.

              Nickel Silver

Nickel silver is a nickel alloy, also known as German silver. It encourages salivation for a more sensitive and supple mouth.
