Comments about Joseph Sterling® Extra Long Plaited Reins:

Just pulled these reins out of my mailbox and as far as first impressions go, these reins seem very well made. I ordered the chestnut color after seeing in the Q&A section that this color would be a lighter color with orangey undertones, but sadly they are too dark for my bridle. The havana color was described as being the color of a dark chocolate bar; I would describe the chestnut as the color of a milk chocolate bar. Fingers crossed that the color difference won't be too noticeable while riding/showing....

I love these reins. Laced reins did not give me sufficient texture for my comfort. These reins, they are made from very soft and flexible leather. Great product.

I bought the chestnut version and they were darker than I thought they would be and was worried they wouldn't match my bridle. They are darker than my chestnut bridle but overall they look okay with it. Love the quality.

I currently use laced reins, however I always have a problem with my reins sliding through my fingers. Do you think these would be better for me?

                A:

Yes, these would be good for that. They give you little more grip like a rubber rein would.

I think they would. They may take some time getting use to the feel. But I love these reins.

            • Q:

Is each rein 64", that mean together 128".
              Is that correct?

              Please let me know.

              Thanks.

Two colors are listed for these reins and I'm not sure what those colors mean. Which one is lighter / darker? Thank you!

                A:

The chestnut is a brown color that borders between light and medium color depth and has strong orangey-red undertones. Very similar to the color of a chestnut horse in the sun. The havana is a deep brown that does not have any red, orange or purple undertones. Resembles the color of a dark chocolate bar.
