Comments about Hoof Wraps(TM) Equine Hoof Bandage:

This hoof wrap and pad are the BEST solution I have found for a lost shoe on the trail, during a show or on the farm. The pad prevents additional bruising or wear or tear and the wrap is easy to apply and fairly durable in good conditions. I have one in every trailer and in every trunk. These make GREAT gifts for horse-owning friends, too!

Comments about Hoof Wraps(TM) Equine Hoof Bandage:

The Hoof Wrap was a huge time saver when my horse had an abscess this fall! I was able to simply pack the area and cover with this velcro wrap! (Instead of the usual wrapping his whole hoof in cotton/vetwrap/duct tape.)

He's 22 and is a pain to keep his hind leg lifted to do all that doctoring, so this was a huge help. The hoof I was using this on had an eggbar shoe, and the one-size-fits-all just fit. The velcro attachments are very strong yet forgiving with size. He was never able to get it off (I left it on 2 days at a time) even being a stall walker. Once he was able to be turned out again, I simply duct taped around the outside of the boot once it was on, just to ensure the deep mud wouldn't suck it off of his foot.

I have to say I was skeptical because in your hand this wrap doesn't seem like much... I was pleasantly surprised and impressed especially considering the low price tag! After 3 weeks of use, it is worn out, but at that price I've already purchased another to keep on hand for the next time.

After my horse lost a front shoe in the pasture together with part of his hoof wall, the hoof wrap was very easy to apply and stayed on until the farrier arrived a few days later.

Comments about Hoof Wraps(TM) Equine Hoof Bandage:

I got the "Hoof Wraps" abscess kit, no longer available from the Hoof Wraps company, :( from my local feed store when my horse had an abscess in a front foot in Dec a couple years ago. The vet was out of town when I called and he said to poultice and wrap it. Everything to do this was in the kit with instructions. My horse was a pasture horse then so was outside 24/7 and pastures are wet and muddy here in the Northwest in winter. The kit had poultice, a foam pad, cotton wrap, vet wrap and the Hoof Wrap itself. I followed the instructions and applied the poultice and cotton, vet wrapped the foot to keep it all together and clean and put the hoof wrap on. He wears a size three easy boot epic so has big feet and it fit great since it is so adjustable. I should have put the foam pad on too but I didn't. I think it might have made the Hoofwrap last a bit longer but I was so happy with it's durability anyway. The vet said to leave it wrapped for a couple of days before taking it off and redoing it if the abscess hadn't burst yet. The pasture where the herd lived was 20 acres with a hillside of trees transitioning to grass pasture down to bottomland next to a creek. There were some rocky and muddy areas and standing water. It was raining almost every day and the hoofwrap stayed on great plus the vetwrap kept the mud from getting in. He went from three legged lame and laying down a lot the first day to walking the second and when I unwrapped him the third day and redid the bandaging I was so pleased that his foot was clean and I didn't have to wash the mud off of the bottom of his foot before I rewrapped him. I just scrubbed the mud off the Hoof Wrap and put it back on over the new bandaging. The Hoof Wrap lasted a week with 24/7 turnout and him moving around the pasture with the herd. He was cantering with them the last day before I took it off and it was finally worn through at the toe. All in all I would say that is pretty impressive durability for a piece of nylon on the foot of a 1200lb horse. I wish I would have gotten another Hoof Wrap to replace the worn out one. I could have used it this fall when he cut the bulb of his heel on a downed broken branch. I had to wrap and duct tape it which only lasted less than 1 day on him so I had check and change it. That wasted a lot of vet wrap and duct tape. I still have the poultice, some cotton and the pad so all I need now is another Hoof Wrap then I am set for next time.
