Love the coat - good materials, good price. I bought the largest size they sold knowing it may not completely cover my dog but taking a chance. I added a piece of double sided velcro to lengthen the strap that closes it by 2 inches. Unfortunatley the coat is not quite long enough for by lab mix. He's larger than most labs - 125 lbs. Maybe a lab/newfoundland mix? Would love to see a bigger size sold!

Love the color and quality. Velcro closure keeps it in place. I wish it was 3 to 4 inches longer on the back to cover more of the back. The walking harness fits underneath the coat and I put the leash out through the top of the neck.

I do use sometimes with a harness. Its not perfect as your lead would have to come thru the neck hole. (if the lead attachment is on top) Might work better with a chest front lead attachment like the Easy Walk harness, but I have not tried that.

There are no holes in it for a leash or anything like that. You can put the harness underneath if the leash is attached at the top.

If your leash hooks to the harness on the dog's back, this jacket won't work. I hook my leash to the front of the harness and it works that way.

Hi
To use a harness I had a seamstress make an opening on the blanket where the harness ring is so I could attach the leash.

I think you would have to place the dog harness over the coat and not under the coat. Not sure I just have a regular lease and it is not a problem.

I don't see how it would work with a harness unless the harness if designed
in such a way that the leash will connect at the neck where you would
connect to a dog collar. The jacket neck sits at the neck line where the
collar goes. There is no slit in the jacket to allow entry through the
jacket to hook onto a harness below the neck line. If your harness if
large enough to fit over the jacket, it might work that way.

There isn't a hole to hook into a harness. Possibly if it is a front clip but even that will be more difficult.

This dog jacket will not work with a harness because it is one piece that covers the entire back of the dog and its chest, as well as its sides. The coast works only with the leash clipped onto a collar. Both of my dogs use harnesses, but when it’s raining outside (the sole purpose for which I bought the jackets), I simply use just a leash and collar for those walks, and the jacket does a wonderful job of keeping the rain off the vast majority of my dogs’ coats. You’ll still have to dry off their bellies and paws, but it’s a lot less than having to dry off their entire coats.

If your harness is something like the above where the lead line clips into the ring ... I don't think the jacket would work. The jacket starts at the base of the neck so it would cover the lead ring. If you sew or know someone that does it might be possible to cut the jacket to create a small (inch or so) open space to clip your lead to the ring. I hope this helps.

This works well for my Bedlington Terrier. I pass the leash thru the top of

There isn't an opening on top of the jacket for a regular harness so it wouldn't but I would guess it could be used with a front clip harness. It seems as though The front of the jacket would just be pulled up a bit.
It is a nice rain coat.

Hunter wears a Kong harness. I Had to put a hole through the raincoat using a soldering iron. The heat from the soldering iron seals any loose fibers as it punches a hole in it. If you dont have a soldering iron you might try heating up a nail or something with a point, small phillips screwdriver for example, using a candle and allow it to punch an outline of the hole and finish the circle or square or whatever with scissors. The idea of the hot pointer is to prevent the creation of loose fibers which could cause unwanted unraveling of the fabric. You can still use scissors or similar to create the opening and then seal the edges with the hot nail. DO NOT APPLY AN OPEN FLAME TO THE COAT.
I think the raincoat is that useful that any modification is well worth the effort. My dog can run in the coat. Of course that only encourages him to find puddles to run through which somewhat defeats the purpose of the raincoat but makes him very happy.

Our short hair male Border Collie is 20" from base of neck to tail and 25" from middle of chest to tail. We purchased a Medium and it fits him perfectly with room on the velcro if he were to acquire additional weight. It seems as though a Medium would be likely the correct size for your dog with the measurements indicated. We love this waterproof shell which actually fits over a fleece jacket providing additional warmth on these very cold days which are into the single digits. Hope this helps.

SM/Med BUT, measure the circumference of your dog's neck. I ordered this size and while the body fit well, the opening for her neck was so tight it wouldn't go over her head past her ears

XL should work, I have a dog boarding ranch and this is the size I use on the 80 – 100lb dogs. If you go with XXL it might restrict the tail from curling up. I have all sizes from XS to XXL, they are the best and easy to get on and off.

Based on the fit/shape, l think the length would work. Mine is cut shallow, it only goes down to my dog's elbows. Really check the measurement around his neck. I bought a small and the length was perfect, but the neck opening wouldn't go over her head,
WAY too
tight.

I think it would based on how the medium fit my pittie.

It might be big enough to go around your lab but I did find the coat doesnt quite cover the entire back.

I would think so, with my dog it comes right to his tail and drops plenty on the sides. I love the jacket for him and will be ordering a second real soon, just to have on hand. I do wish the neck was a little bigger round, but my dog is big around the neck and a lot of fur. Hope this helps

No, I think the extra large would be too small, they are nice coats but the neck hole is non adjustable in the front and really small in diameter. It is tight on my 86 lb GSD.

I think the x-large would work.

Does this dog jacket provide coverage on the dogs belly (underside) to prevent dogs stomach from getting splashed?

It doesn't wrap around or underneath my dogs belly, but I suppose it could if your dog had a small enough belly, but there is only 1 velcro strap.
I will say it is waterproof and simple to put on, the velcro strap under the belly is made well.

he tummy gets splashed but the chest is partly protected. It's the easiest and most efficient dog coat I've ever tried, and being uninsulated doesn't make her hot when she runs.

No it doesn't. It has a belly strap to secure the jacket that is about 4 inches wide, and that may provide a tiny bit of protection, but if it was any bigger it would get in the way of male dogs urinating. Great jacket. Hope the XXL will be available. Danielle McLaughlin Veterinary Technician

Yes these blankets are machine washable in the gentle cycle with a mild detergent or Schneiders Blanket Wash or equivalent.

I have the insulated jacket for my dog in an xsmall. Will the small/medium size be too big in the non insulated sheet? I notice the size options are different for both sheets

A:

There is a 5" difference so it is likely the small/medium will be too large if your dog currently wears and xsmall.
