Comments about Dura-Tech® Ripstop Nylon Mesh Fly Sheet:

Love the sheet for its breathability and rip stop weave, great mosquito and gnat protection.
Its the first sheet from Schneiders we've had that actually stays put and does not list to one side or the other.
Love and dislike its light weight.

Dislike because it does not sit on the horse, there is a bit of space between sheet and horse's back and rump. I've gone out to find very large horse flies in between the sheet and the horse's body, quite happily feasting, while the horse is unable to remove the little beasts. My other concern is the shoulders, easily rubs hair off if left on for more than 8 to 12 hours at a time. Tried it with narrow and stocky horses, rubs everytime... perhaps if the neck was more of a euro or higher cut it would prevent the shoulder issues? or add adjustafit system? I have to wonder if the bellyband would weight the sheet down enough to prevent the bug under the sheet issues? Honestly a bit leary with 24/7 wear... but would recommend for 8-12 hour turn out, if removed when brought in at night.

Comments about Dura-Tech® Ripstop Nylon Mesh Fly Sheet:

My horse has had a really hard time with the flys this year, so I went ahead and purchased this sheet. I've only been using it for about 2 weeks, but so far I'm really liking it! My horse wears it during the day, and sometimes overnight as well. She is in a large corral with another horse, and she isn't easy on her blankets. This sheet stays in place well, seems to be well made, and seems to be pretty durable. It has gotten one very small tear in it, but with how active my horse is in if (rolling, trotting, bucking, occasionally chasing/exchanging kicks with her pasture mate) I'm not surprised. The way the mesh is designed makes it look like the tear shouldn't get any larger, so I'm not concerned with it. I can't really talk about durability yet, but so far it's been holding up well.

Comments about Dura-Tech® Ripstop Nylon Mesh Fly Sheet:

My horse has allergies that cause incredible itching when he is left uncovered. We have him covered with the fly sheet and neck piece. He is very hard on these products. They have held up better than anything else we have purchased. Also have purchased the repair tape.

We bought a couple of extra neck pieces as he will rub these repeatedly against trees. He rubbed himself raw and we had repeated vet visits, so buying a couple extra sets to get him through the season is not an issue for us. In fact, we like having at least one extra set, so we can wash one and still have him covered.

These are really a good quality.

This is my favorite fly sheet I've used thus far. Other ones I've used make the horse too warm, but this one doesn't. It looks nice and is durable.

Great fly sheet! Durable fabric! The fly neck cover securely attach to the blanket keeping it in place providing added protection from biting flies! Wish it had a belly band, but I will still purchase another one!

            • Dura-Tech® Ripstop Nylon Mesh Fly Sheet

              Q:

I bought this sheet in an 82 for my 17hh Dutch Warmblood with a long back. The sheet was great at keeping the bugs from biting and he didn't sweat in the heat. However, it kept sliding backwards and I would constantly have to re-adjust it because it would choke him while he was eating. (I didn't buy the neck piece that goes with it, maybe that would help with sliding?) I was told by my trainer that one day he decided to chew off the front and wiggled out of it. Knowing him like I do, he was mad it choked him at dinner time. Would an 80 be a better size?

                A:

The neck piece will not help it stay up and not sliding back.It maybe the fit of the blanket doesn't work for your type of horse. There are couple different fits for the fly sheets. If you would like to call into customer service they would be able to help you find the best fit for your horse.

                A:

The Ripstop neck cover is lined over the mane with nylon. We have not experienced rubbing issues however we do recommend taking it off every day, combing out the mane and using a nice smooth detangler like our Ultra detangler to keep it knot free.

Depending on the weather conditions any material can. This is less likely to than the fabric ones. If you are concerned about static using a spray on conditioner will help.

what's the difference between the mesh fly vs mosquito mesh sheet

                A:

The Ripstop Nylon Mesh Fly Sheet is a lightweight nylon with 65% uv protection in our Euro style of sheet fit. The Mosquito Mesh Fly Sheet is a flexible window screen material that gives 60% uv protection and one style is VTEK style (18472, 30719) another is Vfree style that leaves the mane uncovered (17283, 37092, 32273,18471). They all protect against the smallest gnats, flies and biting insects and are breathable. The actual material and fit are the two main differences between the two.
