Comments about Dura-Tech® Ripstop Nylon Mesh Fly Sheet:

Needed something to try and keep my black horse covered for the summer without getting too warm. Horse only had it on twice, and washed once on gentle cycle. Binding is falling apart and has holes.

Comments about Dura-Tech® Ripstop Nylon Mesh Fly Sheet:

My horse has had a really hard time with the flys this year, so I went ahead and purchased this sheet. I've only been using it for about 2 weeks, but so far I'm really liking it! My horse wears it during the day, and sometimes overnight as well. She is in a large corral with another horse, and she isn't easy on her blankets. This sheet stays in place well, seems to be well made, and seems to be pretty durable. It has gotten one very small tear in it, but with how active my horse is in if (rolling, trotting, bucking, occasionally chasing/exchanging kicks with her pasture mate) I'm not surprised. The way the mesh is designed makes it look like the tear shouldn't get any larger, so I'm not concerned with it. I can't really talk about durability yet, but so far it's been holding up well.

        Cons

        • Bad construction
        • Bought 4, 2 were coming loose at seams new
        • Didn't Fit
        • Way too big in shoulders,

        • No good uses

Comments about Dura-Tech® Ripstop Nylon Mesh Fly Sheet:

Sooooo frustrating. Cheaply made, falling apart at the seams out of the package. No return shipping, what do you do with such a waste of money and time? Tried darts and fleece either pad to get shoulder to fit and it's still too big, drops below point of shoulder.
I can't say enough cons about this sheet

Not for my horses - ripped up first day

Comments about Dura-Tech® Ripstop Nylon Mesh Fly Sheet:

I bought two of these in May. They are both now trashed. My horses are out in pipe rail fencing. The first one tore at the neckline on the first day. The horses seem to sweat a lot more in them. After two months they are the point of being unusable and non-repairable. Going back to the soft interlock ones.

Comments about Dura-Tech® Ripstop Nylon Mesh Fly Sheet:

I've owned many other Schneider blankets and sheets so when my horse needed a new fly sheet I selected this one. My horse is warm and I liked the breathability of this sheet. However, after a month of daily turnout this sheet is not holding up. There is a seam that runs the length of the sheet on both sides where the surcingles are. The fabric is so fine that the seam is pulling apart on it's own. My horse goes outside by himself and does not chew on his own blankets, this seam breakdown is happening with just normal wear.

        • Dura-Tech® Ripstop Nylon Mesh Fly Sheet

          Q:

Does the neck cover rub out the mane at all?
Asked on 4/21/2016 by Wvhorsemanship from Lakewood, CA

          1 answer

          • Staff Reviewer

            A:

The Ripstop neck cover is lined over the mane with nylon. We have not experienced rubbing issues however we do recommend taking it off every day, combing out the mane and using a nice smooth detangler like our Ultra detangler to keep it knot free.

          Q:

Will this Fly Sheet cause static electricity? I'm asking because last year I bought the "SOFT INTERLOCK MESH STABLE SCRIM 80 SILVE" and it created a lot of static electricity. Thanks for your help. Janine

            A:

Depending on the weather conditions any material can. This is less likely to than the fabric ones. If you are concerned about static using a spray on conditioner will help.

          Q:

what's the difference between the mesh fly vs mosquito mesh sheet
          Asked on 6/4/2015 by Linda

          1 answer

          • Staff Reviewer

            A:

The Ripstop Nylon Mesh Fly Sheet is a lightweight nylon with 65% uv protection in our Euro style of sheet fit. The Mosquito Mesh Fly Sheet is a flexible window screen material that gives 60% uv protection and one style is VTEK style (18472, 30719) another is Vfree style that leaves the mane uncovered (17283, 37092, 32273,18471). They all protect against the smallest gnats, flies and biting insects and are breathable. The actual material and fit are the two main differences between the two.
