We do not recommend oiling the Dare® Cribbing Control Collar, especially the throat piece, which might soften the leather corners and diminish the effectiveness of anti-cribbing block. If you feel you must oil to soften the leather, oil only the crown strap. The collar should be kept clean using a good quality saddle soap or a leather cleaner.

Seems to work - not as great as miracle collar

Comments about Schutz Brothers Inc The Dare Cribbing Collar:

My horse is a cribber when he gets food or treats. I've used the Miracle collar for 4 years, but needed to switch to something else due to a cut on his ear, so I purchased this. Initially it didn't work, but I have tightened it as tight as I can make it, and it seems to mostly stop him. Its not as reliable as the miracle collar, but its an OK alternative if you need something with one strap. It says on well, doesn't twist or anything.

Comments about Schutz Brothers Inc The Dare Cribbing Collar:

This cribbing collar has been a godsend. My thoroughbred came with a Miracle collar that caused him to be headshy. I got the Dare collar because reviews suggested it could be worn more loosely than other collars. My horse has completely stopped cribbing with this collar. Better yet, I'm able to keep it fairly loose so he is no longer headshy. I'm very happy with the product!

Comments about Schutz Brothers Inc The Dare Cribbing Collar:

I never wanted to have a horse that cribs because no matter what collar they wore they still cribbed. This collar really stops them. It is designed to stay in one place so it doesn't move which means it doesnt rub either. This is my second collar for my second cribber.

                A:

the measurements are 27" to 39" around. We would suggest measuring around your horse throat where the collar would go and compare to the measurements given.

            • Q:

Please explain how the cribbing collar works and prevents the horse from cribbing? Does the collar stop cribbing or stripping of trees?

Horse is sorrel color, 16.2+ H, and loves to chew on trees-oak bark, strips bark off maple trees, etc. What colors are available?

              Any suggestions are appreciated!

              Thank you.

                A:

The collar stops cribbing (windsucking) this will not stop a horse from wood chewing.
I would suggest that you look at the wire muzzle item # 05803. This works great to get horse to quit chewing fence posts or other items. It clips right to the halter.
