Slide-On Tail Extension Instructions:

1.
Braid a small section of hair at the bottom of the tail bone (about 10-14 inches long). Be sure that your braid is approximately the same diameter as the hole in the extension. Secure the braid with a rubber band.

2. Using a latch hook, pull the braid down through the hole of the extension.

3. Making sure that the extension is against the tailbone, tie a knot in the braid from underneath. The tail extension will rest on the knot. For the most natural appearance, the extension should be attached directly below the tail bone.

4. To better secure the extensions you can wrap the braided knot with electrical tape, or run a 5" zip tie down through the hole and the braid, and pull snug.

Note: The bottom of the tail extension should fall at about the horse's fetlock. Test by backing the horse SLOWLY. If the horse comes close to stepping on the extension, STOP! Check that the top of the extension is as close to the tailbone as possible. If so, and it is still too long, then the tail needs to be trimmed to the proper length. If the tail extension is ripped out from the horse backing onto it, it could result in the braid ripping from the tail bone. If your horse's real tail is longer than the extension, trim the real hairs to the same length.
