Description:
Equimax® Ivermectin for the removal and control of mature infections of large strongyles, small strongyles, pinworms, ascarids, hairworms, large-mouth stomach worms, bots lungworms, intestinal threadworms, and tapeworms in horses and ponies.

Dosage:
Equimax® (ivermectin) contains sufficient paste to treat one 1320 lb horse at the recommended dose rate of 91 mcg ivermectin per lb (200mcg/kg) and 0.68 mg praziquantel per lb (1.5 mg/kg) of body weight. Each weight marking on the syringe plunger delivers enough paste to treat 220 lbs (100kg) of body weight.

Directions for use:
While holding plunger, turn the knurled ring on the plunger 1/4 to the left and slide it so the side nearest the barrel is at the prescribed weight marking. Lock the ring in place by making a 1/4 turn to the right. Make sure that the horses mouth is clear of feed. Remove the cover from the tip of syringe. Insert the syringe tip into the horses mouth at the space between the teeth. Depress the plunger as far as it will go, depositing paste on the back of the tongue. Immediately raise the horses head for a few seconds after dosing.

Precautions:
Equimax® Paste may be used in horses after 4 weeks of age and older, including mares at any stage of pregnancy. Stallions may be treated without adversely affecting their fertility. Equimax® Paste has been formulated specifically for use in horses only. This product should not be used in other animals species as severe adverse reactions, including fatalities in dogs, may result.

We use equimax on our farm, at least 2 times a year to keep our horses worm free. With the newer design, it is much easier to administer than any other product

            Comments about Equimax Dewormer:

I'm a strong believer in worming according to fecal counts and avoiding resistance. Equimax did a great job this spring. Every horse that had positive egg count was negative on recheck after using Equimax. So far, no resistance. And the dosage safety is definitely a plus.

                Comments about Equimax Dewormer:

Be careful about buying too far in advance of planned usage. I try to buy wormers once a year. The expiration date I received on the Equimax was only 6 months out. The other wormers that I ordered at the same time were good for over a year. The people at Bimeda, the manufacturer of Equimax, said that they did not test their product for effectiveness beyond the date on the box. Therefore per FDA regulations they could not comment on or recommend using a product beyond its expiration date.
