Comments about FES 3/8" Curved Snaffle D-Ring 5" mouth:

D-rings are a bit overly large. Friend has this exact bit (ordered it a few years ago, sent me links to her items), so I thought I was getting what she had. Mine came and the d-rings were almost twice the size of hers. Would have preferred the smaller d-rings for the looks of the bit. Otherwise, great bit. Very durable.

    Ideal clean, simple, go-to snaffle

    By Kassie

Comments about FES 3/8" Curved Snaffle D-Ring 5" mouth:

This is a great snaffle that will work for just about any horse. The copper inlay makes it palatable for the horse, so they will accept it readily. Its simplicity is also a great advantage; many horses are bothered by rollers, ports, twisted wire, or other things that are "extras" on the bit, and this bit allows those horses to relax. Its small diameter is also appealing to most horses; it's not overly thin to where it would be severe, but it does not have any extra bulk, making it easy for the horse to carry in their mouths and recieve cues clearly. The classic Dee-ring look is classy in the Hunter circuit, and it shows that your horse is trained to the point where they don't need any gimmicks or extras to perform well. This is a must-have in any barn.

    What bits are made of...

If you have any questions about this product or a type of bit, please contact us at 1-800-365-1311 or service@sstack.com
    Stainless Steel

Bits are most commonly made of stainless steel. Stainless steel can be cleaned and polished repeatedly without damaging the finish. It is strong, durable, and flavorless and does not impact salivation. Some stainless steel mouths are inlaid with copper.

    Copper

Copper encourages salivation to increase the sensitivity of the horse’s mouth. It warms up quicker than stainless steel in cold weather.

    Sweet Iron

Sweet iron is cold-rolled steel. The material appears rusty after repeated use. This oxidation tastes sweet to the horse and increases salivation.

    Rubber

Rubber softens the action of the bit as it is softer than traditional metals. Rubber-covered bits are generally thicker than metal.

    Aluminum

Aluminum is lightweight and easy to maintain.

    Plastic

Plastic bits are softer than traditional metal bits and they are durable. Many plastic bits are scented or flavored.

    Nickel Silver

Nickel silver is a nickel alloy, also known as German silver. It encourages salivation for a more sensitive and supple mouth.
