Comments about Double S Open Range Saddle:

I bought this saddle for my wide paint mare who is impossible to find tack to fit her. The saddle fit perfectly and looked great on her. The seat is very comfortable also. The leather seems high quality and is easy to clean.

Comments about Double S Open Range Saddle:

Bought this for my 6 yr old QH gelding who is very hard to fit a saddle with. Fits perfectly, looks beautiful, and great for the price! I get tons of compliments every single day! Very comfortable seat, I was shocked when I first sat on it. Oil is MUCH darker in person but very pretty!

What is the shortest stirrup length? Or fender length. Upgrading from a 13" youth saddle but need the short fenders.

Adult sized saddles should fit those with an inseam around 27". All of our saddles have a 10 day trial and if for any reason the saddle needs to come back, we schedule a Fed Ex pick up.

First, I don't know what your discipline is. But I would recommend you order the 16 inch saddle. Much better Resale value and allows you to sit down in the middle of your saddle off of the cantel and back off the pommel.  This light weight saddle is a great value we ride in three of them a day now for 3 years. To answer your question all you have to do is pull the fenders under jockey skirt to the center of the tree.  we have two ladies around 5 feet tall that ride in these saddles.  The fenders can be pulled up or down much like a belt going through a belt loop.  With the free days to try this saddle you can not go wrong. It is a win win with Scheiders, Yeah!

I and 5 of my clients have this great for the money, light weight all leather saddle, ridden in daily for 2years. They could fall apart today and not owe me a thing. If you need a saddle you can lift at a great low price, this is the one. Smart enough looking to go to show pen, open and small breed show. With daily use I did upgrade the billet straps after 3 months. You have nothing to loose!

looking for saddle to fit high withered, fairly narrow, long back 16H paint, and also 14H wide, short back Haflinger. Would this saddle be a good match for either?

          • Staff Reviewer

            A:

I don't think the saddle will work for both horses. The gullet will measure 7 ½" across and may be wide on the paint and too narrow on the Haflinger if this horse is super wide through the front end. The best thing to do is find a saddle that actually fits each horse and measure the gullet span.

On saddles with 15 ½-17" seats, the rule of thumb is that you should have a 28" inseam to be able to adjusts the stirrup length to fit.

Do the fenders have the sliding locks or buckles? I have worked with saddles in the past with buckles to adjust the the sturrips and they were horrible. What color is it really if I wanted to buy matching tack?

This has the sliding locks. Most of our accessories would match the dark oil chestnut.
