Comments about Impact Gel Horse Trax Hoof Pads:

My horseshoer who is very experienced has switched exclusively to these pads for all of his clients. I have a paint horse who we could not get sound after all kinds of expensive vet treatments and other pads, including gels. A cutting trainer recommended these and I have used them for two years now and they work! Normally they last through two shoeings. Great product!

Comments about Impact Gel Horse Trax Hoof Pads:

I have a champion paint horse who has very sensitive soles and we tried everything to keep him sound, took many x-rays, tried all kinds of fancy shoeing and nothing worked. A cutting trainer and a dressage trainer recommended these pads, we have used them for a year and our horse is totally sound with normal shoes. They are reusable pads and we get about three shoeings out of them.

Comments about Impact Gel Horse Trax Hoof Pads:

I have a cutting horse that I struggled with for a year keeping her sound. Finally got an appropriate diagnosis that her soles were thin, causing pain when she worked hard. Tried other remedies like equithane (which worked but was difficult to keep in with all her hard pounding) and eventually tried these as an experiment. Worked fantastically! Trotted her off the very day they were put on down a gravel road with not one flinch and no negative repercussions. Stayed in place and intact throughout the entire growth period until reset. Her soles and frog were a little soft when we took them off, but that was to be expected and not to an extent that would have been concerning. This is a horse that I ride competitively on a weekly or bi-weekly basis so she gets alot of work and with the cutting moves, I was concerned that the gel would move around or become lopsided. None of my concerns were validated. These pads are just amazing. Took my cutting mare that would have ended up a brood mare to the ring and winning some money. Couldn't be happier with this product.
Farrier said they were fairly easy to put on and trim down. He'll be recommending them to others as well.
I have no complaints at all with this product (and I'm pretty critical on products). Waiting to see how spring comes out with her being in and out of some mud. If a concern comes up I'll update this comment.

How does the pads hold up for duration, would they last a summer, riding decent ground? Also does the pad somewhat breath ?

They are not breathable. Pads can be reused but how long they last depends on how often you are riding and what the ground conditions are like.

I highly recommend the impact Gel hoof trax .They are only good for one trimming cycle.I Think they are breathable and really very happy with them.My walks so comfy in all conditions and they have I believe they have helped his feet immensely. They help prevent or if have draw out abcesses ect. My horse is very comfortable with these on he looks happy like walking on air. Oh they might last longer if your just putting in boots to ride instead of putting on with trim as I do. I hope this helps

If a horse doesn't grow good enough hoof to carry shoes, can these be used with hoof tape to keep in place rather than shoes w/ nails?

Manufacturer recommends not to cut these yourself and they are designed to be used between the shoe and the sole and applied by a blacksmith.
We recommend 2 products by 'Hoof Wrap' 21723 The Gel Pad which you can cut to fit and the 21724 the Hoof Wrap Hoof Bandage which holds the gel properly in place.

These are recommended for a one time use. They are typically changed with each reset.

Are these pads meant to be nailed on with a shoe, or can they be used inside a hoof boot? I own a set of the Cavollo Simple Boots, but the Cavallo Gel pads aren't quite thick enough to give my horse any relief.
