Comments about Joseph Sterling® Dressage Snaffle Bridle with Crank:

I was in need of a new dressage bridle for my warmblood mare when she recently broke hers. I wasn't happy with the quality of the bridles at the local tack shop, but I didn't want to pay for a custom bridle. While browsing the internet I came across the Joseph Sterling bridles at Schneiders. I read all the reviews and everyone seemed pleased. Since the consensus was that these bridlestend to run large, I ordered the horse size. The bridle arrived in 5 days and as soon as I opened the package I could smell the quality leather. It had to be assembled which was easy to do since the leather is smooth on both sides and edges and the keepers are adequate size. I was impressed with the leather reins which came with it. I remember buying a pair very similar at our local tack shop and paid close to $100, and that was about 7 years ago! Although I prefer to use rubber reins for extra grip on my mare, these leather ones will be perfect to use on my thoroughbred. (Most bridles come with cheap web reins which I can never use) Although I had already ridden my horse this morning I quickly tried the new bridle on her. It looked great and seemed to fit although tomorrow I will have to readjust it to be sure. The browband measures 16 inches and it may be a bit snug since her forehead is wide, but I can swap it out for one I have with bling that is 18 inches. The padded leather is nice on the headpiece and noseband and I like the slightly thicker cheek pieces. As some other reviewers suggested, I wish the strap for the crank was thicker and more padded. Also, it would be better to have a thicker flash as well. But I am very pleased with the quality, like the cut outs for the ears and the strap for the noseband goes over the headpiece. I think this bridle will be perfect for daily schooling, weekly lessons, and will clean up nicely for shows and clinics!

Comments about Joseph Sterling® Dressage Snaffle Bridle with Crank:

All of our horses are all around show horses. The must compete in both dressage and hunt seat. This bridle fits the bill for both requirements and I love the contour of the bridle in the ear area.

Comments about Joseph Sterling® Dressage Snaffle Bridle with Crank:

After scouring the internet for a new dressage bridle, this is the first one that when I showed my trainer, she came right out with, "I like it." The leather is high quality, stitching is great. It looks very nice. It is a bit stiff, does not come butter soft, but a bit of conditioning and use, I am sure it will supple up nicely. I love the ear cut outs, and the integrated crown. The padding is nice on the nose band and brow band. I only wish the chin piece was bigger. I may look into buying one to replace it with. I ordered the full size for my ~16 hand warmblood mare. It was still too big, and I had to punch one hole on the cheek piece to make it fit her. She does not have a huge head, but I thought I would be safe with a full size. If your horse has anything less than a big head, in any way dainty, measure your horse first.

Love this bridle - particularly the fact that the noseband feeds through the crown so it doesn't slide around when the bridle is be put on and taken off.

Downside is the flash is loose and often slides out (I have lost it a couple of times), but now that I am aware of it I simply slide it to the buckle every time I take the bridle off.
