Eye darts do not sit properly

Comments about Schneiders Mosquito Mesh Fly Mask with Ears:

The elastic nose band pulls the eye darts into a funny position. It did not fit my quarter horse mare with an average head or the draft-sized head of my friend's horse. The fabric is really nice, it just sits so close the horse's eye that the eyelashes poke out. My mare let out a big breathy sigh when I put on her other brand of fly mask after taking this one off.

Comments about Schneiders Mosquito Mesh Fly Mask with Ears:

I have two Arabians ones a 3 year old still growing and the other is a 16 year old they have different sizes of heads and this fly mask still fits both it really hugs around the nose to prevent flys from finding a way in, the ears fit fine and they have plenty of space for their eyes not to hit the mesh.

    Didn't work for me

Comments about Schneiders Mosquito Mesh Fly Mask with Ears:

I was very excited to try this mask because where I am on Cape Cod a fly mask is pretty much a must as soon as the weather heats up and I was really looking forward to the super fine mesh.
I have 3 different horses, a warmblood, a thoroughbred, and an appendix, it didn't fit any of them. I bought the horse size and for some reason it really pushed on everyone's eyes to the point where there eyelashes were sticking through the mesh. I'm not sure if I just had a dud or what because everyone seems to really like this mask. And I specifically read the reviews seeing that people said there was plenty of eye room?!
At first I thought it fit my thoroughbred mare and figured I would keep it for her but after an hour of wear I found it to be pushing on her eyes as well. I also tried it on my friends mare who is a mix of many breeds and she couldn't even open her eyelids. All this being said the Crusader fly masks fit all of my horses just fine so I don't think there is anything wrong with their heads. :)
I really wish this product had worked for me because I love the material. So if it fits your horse I think you will be thrilled with it.

    Cons

    • Eye darts are not right.

Comments about Schneiders Mosquito Mesh Fly Mask with Ears:

LOVE the elastic around the nose band as it makes wearing the mask while grazing more comfortable. That said, for my cob, the eye darts are a little low so I have not been able to make it fully comfortable. For the horse sized one, they fall even lower and the mare will not tolerate the mask as it presses on her eyelashes. A very well designed mask otherwise with large enough ears, nice elastic and appropriately sized. Fix the eye darts so they hold the mask away from the horse's eyes.

      • Q:

Does this fly mask run big or small? My horse usually fits into a "large pony" fly mask, so I'm not sure if I should be picking cob or full size.

          A:

If you normally are in large pony. I would say to go with the cob size.
