We do not recommend oiling the Dare® Cribbing Control Collar, especially the throat piece, which might soften the leather corners and diminish the effectiveness of anti-cribbing block. If you feel you must oil to soften the leather, oil only the crown strap. The collar should be kept clean using a good quality saddle soap or a leather cleaner.

Comments about Schutz Brothers Inc The Dare Cribbing Collar:

We recently bought a very nice OTTB with a lot of potential. He also came with the common vice of racehorses-- cribbing. We used a sport horse specialist for our pre-purchase vet check. This horse already had a very good cribbing collar, but the vet explained that some horses can get used to them, thereby minimizing their effectiveness. He suggested rotating between two very good cribbing collars, changing things up so the horse never has a chance to figure out the collars. Simply change each one once a week. When it came to what to by and where, this collar was overwhelming recommended and Schneider's was the place to get it. One note, you need to get this collar on tight for it to work properly.

Comments about Schutz Brothers Inc The Dare Cribbing Collar:

The DARE collar stopped his cribbing. He only cribs after eating. I leave the collar on, its very tight when his head is up high like he is going to crib and it loosens as he lowers his head. Excellent concept and I would recommend the collar.

Comments about Schutz Brothers Inc The Dare Cribbing Collar:

So far, so good. We are putting it on when our pony starts to crib. When she goes awhile without cribbing, we take it off. She is a late starter. She started at 10 due to barn manager keeping them in for storms and such. She is too smart and gets easily bored in a stall for stretches of time. I moved her to an outside boarding barn but she still slips up sometimes. We are trying to see if we can stop her with the help of the Dare Cribbing.

My trainer recommended this collar. It does work better than the standard collar, but you must get it tight enough.
