Sand colic is one of the most preventable diseases known. Horses in sandy areas or that are turned out in sand rings and spend a lot of time eating feed off the ground are prone to ingest some sand.  Sand is not digestible so the more sand that builds up in the horses intestine the more prone they are to sand colic. Some but not all sand is always passed thru the intestine so feeding a Psyllium based supplement is key to preventing Sand Colic.

Comments about Durvet SandRid Psyllium Pellets 5lbs:

I live in the desert of Southern California and sand is a regular part of life here. Even though I put my horse's hay in a big tub, he still eats off the ground and I want to make certain sand doesn't build up in his gut. Too many people lose their horses to sand colic and I am determined my horse will not be a statistic. I like the "feed daily for a week" schedule and this can go into his pellet feed without mixing (as I would have to do with powder).

My horse and I recently moved to the coast and after a few months he started acting a bit sluggish. My friend suggested sandrid. Now my baby is all back to normal (:
