What Size is a Dressage Arena?
The standard dressage arena dimensions are 20 meters by 60 meters, but you can also find a smaller dressage arena-sized at 20 meters by 40 meters. The standard size arena is often used for upper-level eventing and dressage competitions. The smaller dressage arena is great for practicing dressage tests. In fact, some experts say a small dressage arena is a key to helping both horse and rider master their figures, build muscle and move fluidly.
What do the Dressage Arena Letters Stand for?
The dressage letters are a form of marker to help provide the rider with reference points for certain movements to be ridden by the rider.
A 20 x 60-meter dressage arena will contain 12 letters: A B C E F H K M R S V P, with the invisible letters down the centerline D L X I G.
A 20 x 40-meter dressage arena will contain 8 letters: A B C E F H K M, with the invisible letters down the centerline D X G.
Dressage cones with letters are often the preferred method of marking because they have easily visible lettering and can be moved around your arena as needed. Pick up a set of dressage letters to complete either your 40-meter or 60-meter arena.
