English Cavesons: Use, Fit and Function
The caveson is standard on all English bridles. The caveson, which is often simply called the noseband, wraps around the horse’s nose and attaches by the hang-strap that travels over the poll of the horse, under the crown piece of the bridle.
The English caveson, at its basic level, helps to keep your horse’s mouth closed. There are a few different options available in an English caveson, both in function and form. Some are luxuriously padded with soft leather in matching or contrasting colors. Other cavesons are adorned with piping or fancy stitching. More options include and integrated flash attachment or a Draw-Tite buckle, helping to close the noseband with a pinch-free and secure hold.
English Cavesons: English training and work cavesons are helpful in closing the jaw, encouraging the horse to flex slightly at the poll and keep engaged with the bit.
