Comments about Dura-Tech® Trail Pommel Bag:

It has two sets of straps but I only use one. The long set could go under the saddle skirt but doesn't seem needed. The short set go thru the rings on the front of the saddle and velcro securely. Hasn't moved or shifted after several rides, even at the gallop. Two side pockets are large enough for water bottle, phone, first aid kit, snacks, etc. A smaller center pocket I use for snack bars, might fit a phone but I prefer mine in my jeans pocket. Very useful and I just leave it on the saddle. The horse doesn't even notice but the underside is bumpy rubber to allow it to breath and not soak up horsey sweat.

I would like the side pockets just a little larger...to fit a sandwich without squishing. Otherwise, perfect and exactly what I wanted.

Comments about Dura-Tech® Trail Pommel Bag:

My favorite aspect of this bag is that I was able to use it with my English saddle, Western saddle, AND bareback pad! The straps make it really versatile and it is also the first saddle bag I have bought that doesn't bounce during trot/canter because you can tighten the straps. It's not a pack-everything, but I was able to fit two water bottles, my large smart phone, and some snacks.

Comments about Dura-Tech® Trail Pommel Bag:

I really like this pommel pack because of the straps that secure it to your billets. It does NOT bounce or move around at all. Only thing I don't like is where the middle pocket zips. I wish the zipper was in the middle of the pocket to prevent stuff from falling out while trying to dig stuff out of there :->

but all in all this is a great pommel pack for the price. My horse initially spooked from the sound of the velcro ripping open LOL but he adjusted pretty quickly.

How does the Dura tech pommel trail bag attach to a western saddle. I have two small D -rings on the skirt. Are there long straps to tie it down and is there any flopping around?

I bought this bag for one reason..I use it when I trail ride.  Does it fit super snug...no...but on the trail it does what I wanted it for...to carry my camera, a bottle of water and my cellphone and riding gloves and a granola bar.  I like it.

Two smaller straps attach to the D-rings and there are 2 longer straps that attach around the stirrup fender. I haven't heard of any 'flopping' or excess movement with the pommel bag

It has four straps. The top two attach with Velcro and attach to the front D-rings.  The longer straps on the bottom close with clips and can be run around the top of the stirrup fender where they attach to the saddle. Flopping is minimal if everything is tight.

There are two long Velcro straps that you can thread to your stirrup leathers. On my dressage saddle I thread them under the main flap and through the girth webbers that are used for to attach the girth to saddle.  It does not flap around and I love mine.
You can put large water bottle on the insulated side, there is a large flat pocket at top, and another big and long one opposite side.
                  Very handy

Has anyone used this with a mono flap saddle? Could the girth strap reach down to a monoflap?

It should work on a monoflap saddle.

Does this pommel bag put a lot of weight on the withers when the water bottle and other items are in it? I have a horse who is sensitive.

When I tightly attach the straps of the pommel bag to my English saddle's d rings, it actually lifts the bag off the withers, and it rests more on the front of the saddle pad that's peaking out in fromt of my saddle.

No it shouldn't put a lot of weight on the horse. But that does all depend on what you put in the bag.

This looks like a great bag - looking forward to placing an order.

Just curious - what material is used as the "breathable, non-slip" underside? Haven't come across another bag making such a claim, interested to know what is used.

                Thank you!
