    Super great fit for OTTB

    5

Doesn't slip around at all on a 15.3 OTTB with slightly high withers. Looks great and feels super durable.

    Perfect Spring Sheet

    5

It's tough to keep up with the changing weather, especially all the rain in the Pacific Northwest. This sheet has been a very needed addition to my Warmblood/Arab Eventer's wardrobe. He has a really high tail carriage, so the extra large tail flap is clutch to keep the sheet from shifting when he poops. So far it has been pretty durable, though I've only had it for 2 months. It's a little on the small/short side, so I wish I had gone up a size, but it still works fine, even to layer with an irish knit or cooling sheet underneath. I'm really pleased with the wither relief cut, as my guy has a pretty sloped shoulder and his withers get rubbed pretty easily.

This is a great turnout sheet that fits my high withered QH very well! It stays in place and keeps him dry all day.

    Blanket needs some tayloring

    3

Attractive blanket - fits chest & withers very well. Back section over hind guarters is excessive/too much material & tail flap way too big. Needs darts to taylor the fit to hind quarters & trim down the tail flap so doesn't fold over - back section blows out in the wind being so big even w/ leg straps tight.

Do you think this blanket would fit a TB horse with big withers and shoulders? He is built a little more like a tb/wb cross. His shoulders and withers are pretty big and his neck is a little higher than most TBs. And he does have a long mane. One blanket we had rubbed his withers a bit so we are hoping to avoid that. He has a StormsShield Contour Collar and that seems to fit, but it looks like this one might be more water proof? He can be pretty rough on his blankets so I'm hoping to find something that will last haha.

The best choice for a high withered horse with big shoulders would be the VTEK style blankets/sheets. These blankets come up over the wither, have a smaller neck opening that prevents the blanket from sliding back and getting hung up behind the wither. The Armorflex Warrior VTEK series of turnouts has a 1680 denier outer cover and comes with a 10 year warranty. The Armorflex Gladiator VTEK series carries a lifetime warranty. Our knowledgeable Customer Service staff is always available to help with any questions you have regarding blanket fit.

Is this sheet a lighter weight than the Dublin sheet?

    Lastchance

The only difference in the sheets is the outer cover. The Dublin has a 1680 denier outer and the Evergreen has a 1200 denier outer cover. The sheets have no insulation and would be the same weight.

    Anonymous

They are waterproof sheets and are the same 'weight' (since there is no insulation). They are designed for outdoor spring and fall use and can be used with liners in colder temperatures. The Dublin has a more durable exterior at 1680 and the Evergreen has a 1200 denier outer, both with 5 year warranties. Overall actual weight of the sheets are the same at 6 ½ lbs each. We do have a full line of summer indoor stable sheets in 420 denier nylon (not waterproof) if these are too heavy.

    Anonymous

I am not familiar with the Dublin sheet. It is heavier than a nylon sheet. So compare as a nylon windbreaker that you have to a nice unlined gortex raincoat Nicole

    nicole_ginter

Is this lining as good as a mesh lining for wicking moisture off the horses back/rump? My horse sweats a lot with a solid nylon lining, even in mid 40 degree weather. With my old Big D mesh lining rain sheet he stays dry, but it doesn't fit well - front straps spread and neck collar rolls under. This is for an Andalusian Arab cross.

    VeraJ

My experience has been that it does a good job of wicking moisture. The fit is good and my horses are average on the sweating range but I haven't had problems.  Sent from my iPhone

    susdellamaddalena

Every horse is different. This interior nylon lining won't wick moisture if your horse starts to sweat. The sheet that would work the best is the StormShield Regulator (16002). Even though it has 80gm's of insulation, there is a Tekno Dri layer between the outer fabric and the nylon lining. The Tekno Dri will wick away moisture if your horse should start to sweat so he stays comfortably dry.

I had no problems with my horse staying dry in this blanket. He was always dry when I pulled it off and he sweats easy and hates any type of clothing. Although It did rub his shoulders quite a bit but he has a long narrow sloping shoulder. Sent from my iPhone

We always buy these rugs for all our horses.  They are so strong and versatile.  Our horses have never overheated in them and we can put a fleece rug underneath them if they need extra warmth or sweatsoaking properties.     Sent: Friday 3 November 2017 18:29

Would this sheet work well for my friesian? Most sheets cut her at the withers and rub in her shoulders. If this sheet doesn't work well what do you recommend ? I tried the 1,200 d high neck sheet on her and I didn't love it so I'm looking for something better for next season.

    Kelly

Hi, Kelly, I have an Andalusian mare with very high withers. This turnout has worked well for her, but make sure you really get the right size. It's worth measuring before you actually buy it -- I found that particularly in the winter, my horse get a bit plumper than in the rest of the year, so allow for that by measuring her for the season you will purchase this. Good luck! Betsy Sent from my iPad

I have a Tennessee Walker quarter horse cross and this sheet fits him very well. He is only 15 hands but round with big shoulders. I love the adjustable velcro aound the shoulders/neck so it is very adaptable to many different builds.

    sferrara3663

This sheet would work for a friesian. Since this sheet comes up higher on the neck it would help with the wither rubs. Plus it will give her more room in the shoulders which will help with the rubbing there as well. If you have any more questions about fit. The best way to get answer is to call into customer service and they can walk you through all the fits and what they think would work best.

I have a 16.3 Thoroughbred/paint but he's very Warmbloody physically. He has big shoulders and high withers and I have the hardest time finding blankets that fit him. He's cranky to begin with, but this blanket is so far the best fitting I've found for him, and maybe it will work for your Friesian too. Blankets are so tricky!

    kayla.m.irvine

This sheet has worked very well for my high-withered, long-backed Am. Paint horse. He's 16 h and runs on the Thoroughbred, slender type build, so don't know if it would be a good fit for a Friesian. I also have one of theirs in a mid weight, but without the high-withered fit that might be better for a more muscular horse, but still works for my paint. I find them both to be very high quality for the price. Hope that helps.

    t.quackenbush

I bought this sheet for a National Show Horse, who is also high-withered. Of all the sheets we've tried for him, this one has fit the best. We've been very happy with it. In fact, this is the second one we have bought; he finally wore out the last one, after six years.

    tlcat918

I purchased this sheet in a size 86 for my PerchxTB who weighs in excess of 1700 lbs. the sheet fits well through the chest and shoulders and is well contoured. The only negative is that the leg straps that were included were much too small, I had to change them out. Dawn

    topnotchfarm

I love the Vtek, it doesn't rub on the withers/mane and fits my high withered race-bred QH beautifully. I will only purchase Vtek blankets and sheets for him   Robin

    jetfrost11

This sheet fits well on my 2 horses who are both have prominent withers- one is an appendix and the other is a QH that is often mistaken for a warmblood. They live with a Friesian and by my eyeball estimate, it looks like this sheet could possibly work. Sent from my iPad

    lizwalter31

I have had the StormShield VTEK Turnout sheets on my Friesian mare for 3 years. She is quite comfortable, and the withers are entirely free of rubs or sore places. No shoulder rubs at all. We are both happy!

What neck cover goes with this sheet?

    Watchman

There is no matching neck cover for this blanket.

There is no neck sheet available, only the rug.

Will they ever have this in other colors? If so how soon?

    Sugar

This blanket is only coming in green. I would suggest looking at item 36482. This item has the same fit and no insulation. It comes in black and grey color.

    Customer Service

are More colors available? The ads say there are more colors however I don't see any but green.

    Merideth

The Evergreen is only available in green.

What temperatures is this good for? I am looking for a waterproof, durable, light-weight sheet that can be used in temps between 40 and 60 degrees.

    elizabeth

If your horse has a full coat, this sheet will cover that range. If your horse has a clipped coat, we recommend a lightweight blanket offered in our Marathon style item #14083 or the Tekno Fleece item #15002/15003 for those 40-60 degree days.
