I wish this would have worked...

    1

I wanted the blanket to work for my guys, I've had such a hard time finding something to fit them. According to this website, the v-tek should have been perfect. Both are TB types with more prominent withers. Well, these blankets are literally rubbing their withers worse than any blanket I've owned. They also shift worse than anything I've had on them. Even with the adjustable neck the opening is way too big but if I buy a shorter size it'll be too small. And with the neck adjusted as small as it can go, there is now too much material and it's rubbing on their shoulders too. Based on the other reviews it might just be me but I've now wasted hundreds of dollars just to have to go buy another Weatherbeeta...

Better Than What I Thought Was the Best

    5

This year we needed to replace several blankets for our two horses which I knew would be a pretty significant expense. I decided to try Schneiders for the V-tek fit, and also because I will only buy 1600 denier ---so that narrows down the choices. The quality of these blankets is possibly much better than even the most expensive that I have owned. I was really shocked and so pleased. I knew they would be good after reading all the reviews, but it was just a great feeling to have bought something for a fair price that seems as good as, and really much better, than, other products that are marketed as fancier and twice as expensive! How could this be? Also they fit great, and the comfort of the neckline along the withers must be significant to horses like thoroughbreds and warmbloods. You can just *see* this comfort and how it allows for them to lower their head to the ground to eat so comfortably. After trying these on our horses I almost couldn't believe that I had put the old one-size-fits-all on any high withered horse ever...even the ones that we have that are supposedly for high withers do not compare to the design of the V-tek. The hardware and straps are much better quality than any of the "big" name brands I've ever ordered. The belly band is fabulous---very well made, sturdy and comfortable looking. The dirt seems to repel right off these. They are a bit stiffer than the fancy brands on the outside of the turnout, but seem super comfy for the horse. Time will tell if these hold up to all the reviews by other shoppers...but I can see they are super rugged. They also look GREAT ---our boys look quite handsome. Be careful to measure correctly as they are generously but accurately sized. If you order them a size too large they will be very long. These are just great turnouts. If horse blankets were cars this would be a Volvo or Audi---high quality, durable, super safe, built to last, classic, never goes out of style.

Great blanket but doesn't stay in place

    3

I purchased this blanket for a older horse and thought the bellyband would be a good idea. But it absolutely does not work for them I like the other VTEC better with straps. My horse lays down 2 to 3 times a day and I think what happens is the bellyband causesThe blanket to pull around when they get back up. also the buckles of the bellyband repeatedly come on done. So I'm duck taping them for now to keep them classes. . I love Schneidersr's blankets but this one did not work for My horse . So I will not be able to use this blanket for a turn out blanket without a lot of supervision because I have to readjust twice a day. I'm going to repair my older blanket and put it back on my horse. Unfortunately I have a very expensive blanket now that I can't use. So I would say if you have a horse that lays down often it may not work. Or maybe this is a design flaw. I just don't know why it keeps slipping but tmy suspicion is it's because of my horse getting up and down. The marathon blanket from last year stays on beautifully and centered. Huge contrast.

    Best blanket I've ever bought!

    5

My horse has never grown a winter coat that is needed for New England winters. Last winter we had nearly a month straight of temperatures in the negatives. My horse was so incredibly warm in this blanket. Even with the negative temperatures this was the first winter I didn't have to double blanket him! The fit is also perfect! No blanket rubs!

I am really pleased with the fit of this blanket. The belly band and front closures are very adjustable. At first I thought it was going to be too big, but with a few simple adjustments, it fit perfectly! It stays in place, even when he runs around and rolls. It's also very durable- no tears despite playful pasture mates. Very happy!

    Best Blanket I've Ever Owned!

This blanket fits my Standardbred like it was custom made for him! You can tell the fabric is very tough and the dirt doesn't stick to it. It stays in place and is very well constructed. I will buy this blanket for my other 2 horses as soon as it is back in stock!

Love the blanket. Horse is out 24/7 and it stays in place better then other blankets... particularly because of the belly band. Horse was dry after being in a steady medium to light rain all day. Very durable! Best blanket I've tried!

My Go-To Blanket...with Consistently Crummy Hardware

    4

I have purchased at least three of these annually for the past several years. They fit better than most other brands and the fabric is durable for the price, so I keep coming back. The hardware, though, is a joke. The thumb buttons on the snaps are broken off within 2 or three wears. I don't have this problem with the hardware on our Rambos, Tough Ones or SmartPak blankets- just Schneider's. I have a drawer filled with extra pieces because it's a given there will be a problem. I've commented on this issue before to no avail so I don't actually expect this review will serve much purpose other than just a "head's up" to consumers to be prepared with replacement pieces.

Can you provide cleaning instructions for the new warrior blanket 17125?

    Dain

We recommend washing your blanket in warm water with Schneider's Blanket wash or other mild, non-detergents soaps. Tumble dry on low to medium heat. Do not put in a hot dryer.

    Cheri

How do you measure for the neck piece size?

    Tina

Size is typically determined by what size blanket your horse wears. The medium size fits horses with blanket sizes between 68-74, the large fits horses with blanket sizes between 76-80 and the X large neck covers fits horses with blanket sizes between 82-86.

    Cheri

I live in Oregon. It rains daily which blanket would you recommend for rainy weather. Do you have a water resistant blanket?

    Sheryl

If it rains everyday, you would want a waterproof blanket. The ARMORflex Warrior blankets are waterproof and have a 10 year warranty. We have a full line of waterproof turnout blankets and sheets in a variety of fits and styles to best meet your needs. Our Customer Service staff is happy to answer any questions you have in order to get the perfect fitting blanket for your horse.

What is the difference between an 80gram lightweight blanket and a Tekno-fleece blanket?

    Elee

The Tekno fleece blanket is the equivalent to about 180 grams of insulation. It's weight is considered to be between a lightweight and midweight.

    Cheri

I love the idea of the bellyband, but I have a young gelding who turns out with other young geldings and they play rough! One in particular loves going for the surcingle straps on the sides and has now ripped all of them off my guy's current blanket. Do these straps on the bellyband lie pretty flush to the horse and hard to grab? Or am I better off sticking with the surcingle blanket & tightening it as much as I can get away with to make it difficult to grab.

    Tired of repairing blankets

If your horse's pasture mate zeros in on the surcingle straps, you may be better off with the surcingle style blanket. While the bellyband provides a bit of extra coverage, the straps could be quite inviting. You do have a 10 year warranty on this blanket and it should hold up to rough horseplay.

Hi, I love this blanket but I'm not sure it will work for horses that like to trash blankets.  The way its constructed with elastic for give produces a bit of a loop. This webbing loop of surcingle isn't flush with the blsnket. I think this would give them extra stuff to grab on to.  Hope this helps. Jen

    jdlastchanceranch

The bellyband toggle hooks are up higher and have a short piece of doubled strap folded over them to keep the horse from rubbing them off. My horses don't mess with them. The straps themselves are stitched down.  If your mischievous one wants to, he could grab it but I would think this would be a better solution than regular surfing Lee straps that are loose under the horse. My big thoroughbred loves this blanket.  Sent from my iPhone

    heidihducote

Any reports of the bellyband getting urinated on by geldings? It looks so warm, but seems pretty far back.

    J.

Yes it is a possibility. We would suggest going with the surcingle.

    Customer Service

I have 6 geldings and use the light weight and heavyweight belly bands for all of them ( 2 of them are known to be more than a little sloppy with there man parts). I have never had an issue with any of them urinating on any of the belly bands. I keep them drawn up where they can't get a leg caught so they are not hanging way down, I can take both of my fist and put in between there belly and blanket.

    Kim

My horse is normally a 78 and I am just wondering if StormShield VTEK Merathon Bellybant Turnout Blanket are normally true to size or if it tends to run large or small. My horse has an attitude so it is difficult to measure him for a sure fit.

    Mary

This should be true to size. However sizes in other brands of blankets may vary so it is best if you could get him measured.

    Customer Service

Does anyone have experience with this blanket being used by a horse who loves to stand in the pouring rain for hours? I am concerned that water will run down the blanket side and run under the belly band.

    Mary

Bellyabnd should be flush to the belly and not loose. This sides are long enough and roll under so the water should come down the side and run off but this is always a possible issue especially in windy blowing rains. We don't hear many complaints.

    Customer Service

I can't figure out hoe to tighten the belly wrap on her blanket, iWhen I try, it seems to loosen? What am I doing wrong? Does anyone else have this problem?

    Sherry..

Feed the webbing through the sliders so that the sliders move closer to the bellyband piece, not the t-hook connections.

    Customer Service

Will this fit horses with normal withers too? They're both quarter horses with low - medium withers but i like the high neck on these and they seem like they'd be more comfortable without the wither pressure.

    Brittany

This fit is specifically made for horses with large withers. Your horse would be best fit for a Fitted V-Free, such as the Regulator or item #31435. This fit is designed for sloped shoulder and creates a larger neck opening - leaving the mane uncovered. V-Free pressure free wither eliminates pressure points for horses with this build.
