Probably best boots out there!

4

I have had these boots on and off my horse for about a month now. Biggest dislike is the gap in size between Small and Medium. Also I think the velcro could be smaller, I have a hard time getting the boots tight enough. They are also not great in the mud/swampy paddock. Here after a heavy rain the boots will stay on but the mud gets stuck and gives them swamp feet. Hopefully that makes sense. I know that sounds like a lot of negative, but when I go out they are always on, typically in the right place, and I don't see any major areas of tearing. I would expect these to last a full summer. Definitely go by the size guide, my 14.3 stout gelding was a size small in the front and a medium in the back. (Would love a size in between the small and medium!)

Just got and they already ripped.

Bought two different types and these ripped in the first week along the middle seam. Very disappointed for price.

These boots hold up well, and don't slouch down

3

These boots do not slouch down because the mesh is more rigid than some other boots. It may be a little too rigid for a very sensitive horse.

So far, so good!

The only problem I have had with these fly boots is that I did not measure before I ordered them so they are too big. They would have worked better if they were the proper size! But they are better than nothing.

Disappointing Performance

2

This is the first time I have purchased fly wraps. While they do keep the flies away and reduce stomping (which is hard on the joints and feet), these wraps were cumbersome to apply because they lack enough stiffening material --- the Velcro alone doesn't help enough to keep them from sagging. In order to get them tight, I have to pull the tabs to the point the Velcro no longer attaches. It isn't a matter of having purchased the wrong size --- my gelding is 16.2 and big boned --- and I bought a medium pair for the front and a large pair for the rear. But I was really disappointed when net material at the fetlock on a hind boot separated. I love Schneider's products but I wouldn't buy this one again.

Why are you discontinuing these?

none

We are closing out the fly boots for the season.

Cheri

Is the small for small horses/ponies? I once ordered Kensington smalls and they ended up being mini size! I have an Icelandic (short, but good cannon bone size) and the flies eat his legs. If these are big, I can always cut down and sew.

Sagasayer

The small fly boots have an overall height of 11.5" so they should work on an Icelandic.

Cheri

My horse has incontinence issues and dribbles urine down back legs. Would you consider them water repellent/resistant? I'm trying to figure out if they would help keep his legs dry as well as keep flies off.

Carla

The fly boots are made of mesh and are not waterproof. They will keep flies away but not keep his legs dry.

Cheri

Do these come in pairs of twos or 4's? And can they only go on the front or front and back?

Carley

These are sold in pairs. Yes they can go on front or hind legs.

Customer Service

Do these boots offer UV protection as well? If so, what is the UV block percent? Thank you.

Dale

Yes, they are 70% UV protection just like the fly sheet that is the same material.

Customer Service

Do you have measurements for the different sizes? Also, are they designed to fit both the front and back legs? Thanks!

Patricia

These boots are for both the front and back legs of your horse and the complete size chart is posted to your left, in the detailed picture section of the web page for this item.
