Comments about Joseph Sterling® Conversion Dressage Bridle:

I am very impressed with this bridle. I bought it because one horse didn't like the flash noseband but my other horse needed it. I hate having the piece hanging down on the noseband when I didn't need it and this configuration hides that beautifully. Also if you are on the cusp of going from a snaffle to a double bridle you have the ability to add the extra bit and not buy a whole new bridle. I've had it for 2 years and its still in great shape. Looks good enough for showing although I use it everyday. It is nicely padded on the sensitive parts of the horse and they really seem comfortable in it.

Comments about Joseph Sterling® Conversion Dressage Bridle:

This my first double bridle so I didn't want to spend a ton of money on it. It is surprisingly attractive for the price. It's fairly new so I don't know how well it will hold up but it seems well made. The flash tab tucks away nicely.

It was too much for my Arabian. But it's very nicely made and I would have kept it if it had been more petite.

The full size measurements of the crown piece without the lower cheek piece is 31.5", the lower cheek pieces are 10" and the browband is 17.5". Add 1" to all measurements for the Oversize.

You will need a brow band with large loops. Must be large enough to accommodate both pieces of leather.

No. You need to order the bits separately. It comes with both sets of reins.

How much larger is the oversize compared to the full? My horse was wearing the full until he broke it but it was a bit tight around the crown piece and the cheek pieces for the snaffle were almost on the last hole. Am I going to be ok ordering the oversize? He has a wide forehead but shorter cheek area. Older style holsteiner.

The difference between the full size and over size. Browband – ½ Larger; Crown – 1" Larger – Cheek – 2 ½" Longer

            • Q:

I plan to use this bridle primarily as a double bridle as I already have a snaffle bridle for my horse that I really like, but I love that this bridle has the cutout for ears and a padded crown. My concern is that since most of the time I will have the padded flash folded up, that this will affect the cavesson and create a little "bump" over the top of my horse's nose. Does it, or does the flash attachment fold smoothly?

                A:

The Flash Loop that folds away is made of durable but intentionally very soft leather. It's profile is completely absorbed by the caveson padding and you or your horse will not notice any bump when folded in. We have sold thousands of cavesons with this design and have not had any comments or concerns in this regard.

I keep my loop folded up as I strictly use it as a double ... no issues or bumps !
