Good product for slow feeding and reduced waste

So far (used a little over a month) this has been a good feeder that accomplished both of my goals. I wanted to slow the consumption of the horses' daily hay ration, and I wanted to reduce the amount of hay that was being wasted on the stall floor. I load the net twice daily and have found that 3 healthy sized flakes of grass hay can easily last 5 hours. Previously, with the same amount of hay just thrown on the stall floor, it would only take 90 mins. for the ration to be consumed! I would give this product 5 stars if it was larger or if you could really get 4 flakes of hay loaded into it. The product description suggests a 3-4 flake capacity, but the flakes would have to be really small in order to fit 4 flakes. Overall a good product to use and such a better way to feed hay and to reduce waste.

Nice design and ease of use

I have several of these hay hoops and find that in an installation where you can reach over a fence to open and close them, they are a dream. I have one horse who is really hard on any feeding equipment and she has managed to shake her hay net had enough to unlock it and flip it down. But all the other horses have never figured this move out and the hoops have given me years of use.

Very stiff, but durable and works well

Joints are very stiff, must be level and apply even pressure to move up and down. Defiantly need two hands to operate and have smashed my fingers several times. On the up side, it is very sturdy and I have fed hay in it without folding it back up flush with the wall. Works just fine so far and I like that the net can be replaced when needed. Perfectly functional.

I would buy it again

I didn't use them yet, but I am going to use them soon. I have to fix the stalls. before I can use them. but I think that I will be able to save on hay .

Great product!

Great feeders!

I bought these for our barn and they have cut down on the amount of hay the horses eat! Great quality and easy to use! Very easy to install!! The horses love them too!

A couple opinions

The length of the net is a little long which makes it necessary to hang the base high in turns makes the latch difficult to work

I would buy this again

The Hay Hoops saves hay by using an easy to fill hay net on a frame that folds flat on the wall. Horses take to it right away. I have one inside & 1 out. Great product.

Love These

I own some little piggy horses that scarf down their food & scatter it all over. Since putting these in ALL my stalls, my horses have food all night & they're not stepping all over it... Super Easy to install (did this by myself) & super easy to fill. Very durable ! These are a must & I definitely will buy again.

No more wasted hay!!!

These are awesome! We put them in our guys stalls they hold about 3 flakes of hay. The boys used to either gobble up their hay and get bored or poop/pee on a part of it, step on it and not touch it These have stopped that, they eat much slower and it keeps they busy all night, no more wood chewing. One of my boys actually has had a small amount of hay left over in the morning. And they were really easy to install.

About how much does each net hold and how easy is it to replace the nets once they rip?

Ironstar Farm

The hay net that comes with the collapsable feeder holds about 3 flakes.  It is easy to replace.  After my horse chewed two large holes I replaced it with the blue/black hay net which holds 4 flakes.  Putting on the net is just like putting a net on a basketball hoop...very easy.  I am very happy with my purchase and I highly recommend it.

The hay net that comes with the feeder will hold about 3-4 flakes of hay depending on size. Replacing the hay net is quite simple and there is there is a Youtube video that shows detailed and close up shots of just how easy it is.

They hold 2-3 flakes depending on flake size. Probably 12-15 pounds on a guess. We've been using them for a month or so and haven't had to replace nets but I plan to as soon as I get some larger capacity ones. Should be doable with a hoof pick or crochet hook and a little patience. Caveat: we had to change the closure system that keeps the hoop on the wall because the one provided, while very clever, was impossible to do with gloves on. New England winter too cold for that!  I've offered the modification to the Tuff One company but got no response. Oh well.
