Choosing the Best Saddleseat Equipment

Saddleseat riding is an English style that showcases the high gaits of horses such as the Tennessee Walking Horse, Morgan, American Saddlebred, and Arabians. Done on the flat, there is no jumping, and the characteristics of the sport include a high head and high steps, particularly at the trot. Horses are shown at the three gaits (walk, trot, canter), but some classes include two more gaits (rack and slow). Riders carry their hands much higher than other disciplines, yet as with dressage, they are expected to have quiet hands and a quiet seat.

The proper Saddleseat equipment is necessary for the best ride. The most common ridle and bitb used is the double bridle, with curb bit and platoon, but other bits, depending on breed and horse age, are acceptable. In addition, the Saddleseat discipline requires special saddles and other tack accessories for absolute performance. Schneiders has all you need for the perfect blue ribbon ride, whether you're just starting or an accomplished rider.
