"I have a shed row barn that I use as a run-in for my old timers. But my hunter pony mare was injured this past fall and needed rehab, so she is living in one stall and turned out into a hospital paddock for about 6 hours out of 24. Despite recent very cold temps, her "stall" water bucket has kept water available to her when she's in. We've had low temps and single digits overnight lately and, yes, some ice forms across the top, but it's not been so thick that she can't break through to drink. When the temps are above 20 or so, no ice forms. It's amazing and has been a real life saver for me so far this winter."
"These bucket insulators work great! They keep water from freezing to about 20 degrees, which is important since my horse is in a barn where altitude is a little over 5000 feet. Also, the wind blows almost constantly here. Occasionally there is a thin layer of ice which my horse can easily break through. Hank had no trouble accessing water through the opening. I highly recommend these insulators to anyone who does not have a automatic/heated water source for their horse."
