UltraFlex® Forelock And Mane Saver Full Zipper Horse Slicker Hood

The slicker hood is made from lightweight 8 oz. four-way stretch Lycra® that provides a flexible, comfortable fit for your horse. This material offers greater than 95% UV protection, making it ideal for sunny days and extended turnout. The four-way stretch ensures the hood moves with your horse without restricting movement.

Yes, this slicker hood works particularly well if your horse's mane is braided. The strategically placed forelock and mane openings are designed to keep medium to long manes free without bunching or tangling. However, if your horse has a loose mane, you may want to braid it first to prevent the hair from getting tangled under the hood.

Absolutely! The lightweight design makes it an excellent layering piece under a blanket during cooler weather. This allows you to protect your horse from UV rays and keep them clean while providing an extra insulating layer without bulk. It's a versatile option for transitional seasons.

The full-length YKK® zipper running from nose to chest makes dressing your horse quick and easy. You won't need to wrestle with multiple straps or fastenings—just zip it on and adjust the surcingle strap. The no-snag hook-and-loop closure on the adjustable surcingle strap also ensures a secure fit without damaging the fabric.

The generous eye and ear openings are strategically designed to reduce pressure and rubbing in these sensitive areas. Large eye openings help prevent the slicker from pulling toward your horse's eyes, while the generous ear openings accommodate the ears comfortably without creating friction points that could irritate the skin.

Yes, this slicker hood is an excellent choice for horses that scratch or rub their manes under traditional slickers. The forelock and mane openings allow the mane to remain free, reducing the irritation and rubbing that can trigger scratching behavior. For extended use, periodically remove the slicker to give the mane and forelock a break.
