UlcerGard® (Omeprazole)

Ulcer prevention for the days your horse is under stress

UlcerGard® (omeprazole) is the FDA-approved, non-prescription oral paste for the prevention of stomach ulcers in healthy horses. One marked dose a day on the back of the tongue through trailering, showing, training, racing or injury rehab. Cinnamon flavored. Each syringe holds four daily doses for a 600 to 1,200-pound horse; sold as a single tube or a 6-pack of 24 doses.
1
Prevents ulcers by reducing stomach acid
Omeprazole works by reducing the production of acid in the stomach. UlcerGard is FDA approved for the prevention of stomach ulcers in healthy horses, and the label calls it the only non-prescription formula proven to prevent Equine Gastric Ulcer Syndrome.
2
For the stress that causes them
Trailering, showing, training, racing and injury rehabilitation are the situations the label names. It is recommended for horses exposed to those conditions, so start it when the stress starts.

3
One marked dose, once a day
Set the ring to the dose marked on the syringe and put the paste on the back of the tongue or deep in the cheek pouch. A 600 to 1,200-pound horse gets one dose a day; over 1,200 pounds, two. If any of the dose is lost or spat out, re-dose.
4
Know the signs, and call your vet
Decreased appetite, recurrent colic, intermittent loose stools, a poor coat, poor condition or poor performance may be signs of ulcers, or of other diseases. If your horse shows any of them, consult your veterinarian for diagnosis and treatment. UlcerGard is for prevention in healthy horses.
