UltraFlex® Faceless Full Zip Slicker Hood

Overview

Faceless Lycra Slicker

Made from our signature 8 oz. 4-way stretch lycra that offers UV protection greater than 95%. There are no ears to rub, no eyes to rub, and no seams to rub! This faceless slicker can be used as a light summer neck and shoulder cover to keep braids and bands neat before a show, helps lay the mane down and best of all, the no face design stays in place!

Key benefits

Securely Stays in Place

2" wide flat band of elastic is encased with the 4-way stretch lycra, with hook and loop closure allowing you to adjust your throat latch size. Note: you should be able to fit 2 fingers under the throat after it is adjusted. Added length to the neck ensure the neck stays in place.

Heavy Duty Zipper

Full separating high quality YKK zipper. The zipper opens up completely so that you can slip the hood over the neck as an open front blanket. Absolutely the best zipper available. Will not rub! Short elastic tap with hook and loop fastening attached over the zipper pull to keep the zipper secure.

No Snag Hook and Loop Girth Closure

2" wide elastic girth strap is wrapped in lycra keeping it smooth against the horse with hook and loop closure ends. It has ample adjustability to fit any horse’s girth size. Nylon hook and loop closure reduces snagging of the lycra material.

The new faceless slickers are just what we asked for? They fit well, keep manes nice without the worry of interference with eyes. They stay on straight and are easy to use.

Chris Culbreth

Scottsdale, Arizona - Culbreth Equine Training & Management, LLC

Schneiders has done it again, with the well designed "Faceless Slicker." The innovative design eliminates the over the eyes and ears portion of the slicker and is much safer to use, while still providing all of the benefits of the hood. It stays up on the neck better than similar products and the fabric has basically eliminated the dreaded shoulder rubs. The hook and loop closure belly band is much better than plastic buckles as it never fails. The coat on my horses has never been better and the breathable fabric keeps them comfortable.

Chad Judy

Recently we tried out the UltraFlex® Faceless Zipper Slicker from Schneiders, and what a game changer. No more rubs around the eyes or pulling on their ears!” Stays in place great, we will only use these from now on.

Jeremy Young

Big Timber, Montana - Jeremy Young Cutting Horses

I really like Schneider's Faceless Slinkies. My horses are a lot more comfortable in them and I have a lot less wear and tear on the slinkies now because the horses don't rub their faces as much.

Jessica Bein

Scottsdale, Arizona - Bein Performance Horses

Finally an answer to the forelock debacle! You get the extra layer of protection, keeps the horses clean, and no more slicker in the eyes or rubs at the ears! The New UltraFlex(R) Faceless Slicker is a home run.

Diane Underwood

The Faceless Zipper Slicker is exactly what I have been looking for. It’s easy to put on with the zipper feature & makes dressing head shy horses a breeze. The neck portion stays up well and offers plenty of mobility without sliding or bunching up, even on the longest necks like our Arabs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the UltraFlex Faceless Full Zip Slicker Hood different from a regular horse slicker?

This slicker is designed without full face coverage, so there are no ears, eyes, or seams to rub against your horse's sensitive facial areas. It's perfect for keeping braids neat, training manes to lay flat, and protecting your horse's coat before shows without the discomfort of a full hood.

Is the UltraFlex Faceless Slicker Hood good for hot weather?

Yes, the breathable mesh material makes it excellent for warmer weather and hot days at horse shows. Customers specifically praise it for keeping horses comfortable while protecting them from flies and keeping their coats clean in hot conditions.

Does the full zip design make it easy to put on and take off?

Absolutely—customers love how easy the zipper makes it to get the slicker on and off your horse. The Velcro closures are also super durable and secure, so you don't have to worry about it shifting once it's in place.

What sizes does this slicker come in, and will it fit larger horses?

The UltraFlex comes in multiple sizes including larger options that can accommodate big horses—customers have successfully used it on 1300-pound Friesians and other large breeds. Schneiders recommends sizing according to their size chart for the best fit.

Can I use this slicker under my horse's regular blanket?

Yes, many customers use the UltraFlex slicker under their sheets and winter blankets to protect their horse's coat from rubs and seams. The lightweight, breathable design works well as a protective layer without adding bulk.

Is this slicker durable enough for horses that are hard on their gear?

Customers consistently report that the UltraFlex is built with excellent quality and durability, with some ordering multiple slickers because their active horses are rough on their wardrobe. The high-quality construction holds up well to regular use.

What should I look for in sizing to ensure a good fit?

The slicker should fit snugly so the belly band keeps it firmly in place without shifting. Customers recommend following Schneiders' size chart recommendations, and reviews confirm that when sized correctly, it fits as expected and stays put during wear.

Does the faceless design mean my horse can still see and breathe normally?

Yes, the faceless design with large eye openings means your horse maintains full vision and breathing comfort. The fleece-lined nose strap provides security without restricting your horse's ability to see or breathe naturally.

Reviews

The slicker is nice, but

"The slicker is nice, but it is a touch small for our yearling (cutting bred). The zipper and velcro seem pretty heavy-duty and the hood part fits well over her eyes and ears, The lycra, however, is already torn in a couple places and we've only been using it for a couple of weeks."

— TERESA D. (4/5)

Go-to

"My family has only ever used Schneider’s slickers since before I was born. They’re the only ones with big eye holes so these are obviously a go-to for me. I like the color availability so I could match my new horse’s jammies to the rest of the barn. I will say though, this fabric seems different than what these used to be. I’d need to dig up my “old one” to be sure but it just doesn’t seem as silky smooth as they used to. Not a big deal but a tiny bit disappointing. The construction and fit is still Schneider’s classic quality though"

— KB (4/5)
