What is a Double Ear Headstall

A double ear headstall is a western headstall that uses two separate loops that run around the horse's ears to secure the bridle. These loops keep the bridle from slipping too far back on the horse's head or slipping off entirely.

Unlike the one ear headstalls, double ear headstalls are much more secure since they have two loops securing the bridle instead of one. This also improves the balance of the bridle since it is symmetrical. Though it is a more secure option, it is still recommended that curb bits are used with this kind of headstall.
