Great fit, easy to put on, seems to be pretty durable thus far, vivid color, the recipient might act like getting PJs on is her least favorite activity but she was throwing a tantrum the other day until we put them on and then she calmed down. So I guess that’s a win!

There is nothing that beats the quality & value & warranty of a Schneider blanket! My horse has 3 Schneider blankets! And I just ordered another one today! The StormShield Classic II Attached Neck 220 grams of fill has been absolutely wonderful this cold Ohio winter. I even leave it on for the coldest of nights—I sleep much better knowing he’s as snug as a bug in his Schneider rug!!!

Horrible blanket. Didn’t last 1 season. I sent pictures of the destruction and was told that they wouldn’t refund or replace it. I was offered a 20% coupon off a new blanket. I would seriously look at the year these sale blankets were made bc they won’t warranty them.

Key benefits

Full Coverage, Sleek Fit

Designed with comfort and protection in mind, the Euro fit and attached neck create seamless coverage from poll to tail while allowing your horse to move naturally. The streamlined design helps eliminate shifting during turnout, while the seamless back reduces the chance of water working its way inside. Whether your horse is grazing peacefully or enjoying an energetic romp through the pasture, this blanket stays comfortably in place.

Breathable Warmth, Waterproof Shell

Built to outperform in wet winter weather, the rugged 1680 denier polyester shell encourages water to bead up and roll away while resisting tears, rips, and everyday pasture wear. This blanket blocks wind, rain, and snow while allowing excess body heat and moisture to escape, helping prevent overheating and sweat buildup. Designed for active horses, this durable turnout stands up to rough conditions and is backed by a 2-year warranty for lasting peace of mind.

Built for the Coldest of Winters

When temperatures plunge, dependable warmth becomes essential. The heavyweight 380g insulation provides exceptional protection during bitter cold weather, making this blanket an excellent choice for horses spending extended time outdoors or show horses that need to stay warm, clean, and comfortable throughout the winter season.

Front Snaps Make Life Easier

Blanketing should be quick and hassle-free. Double chrome-plated front snaps combined with a wide hook-and-loop closure make this turnout easy to fasten and remove, even when wearing bulky winter gloves. The adjustable design also helps achieve a secure, comfortable fit every time.

Freedom to Move Without Rubs

Forward-cut reinforced shoulder gussets promote unrestricted movement while helping prevent rubbing around the shoulders. Whether your horse is walking, rolling, grazing, or running through the pasture, the blanket moves comfortably with them while maintaining excellent coverage.

Bellyband Fastening Adds Warmth

The integrated bellyband provides extra protection where it's needed most, helping shield against wind and cold drafts. Locking hardware is thoughtfully positioned to reduce rubbing while your horse lies down, while the rear surcingle stretch panel allows comfortable flexibility during movement. A properly fitted bellyband sits snugly and flush against the belly for optimal performance.

Large Tail Coverage with high Visibility

Extra protection extends all the way to the hindquarters with a generously sized tail flap that helps block rain, snow, and chilly winds. Reflective trim woven into the blanket's binding also improves visibility during dawn, dusk, and other low-light conditions for added safety around the farm.

Reflective Safety Trim

Thoughtful details make all the difference. Reflective thread woven throughout the blanket binding enhances visibility in poor lighting, making your horse easier to spot during early morning turnout, evening feeding, or gloomy winter days.

Leg Straps That Actually Fit

Included detachable elastic leg straps provide a secure, adjustable fit that helps keep the blanket properly positioned without restricting movement. Double-locking adjustment allows straps to fit from 20 to 38 inches on sizes 68–78 and up to 44 inches on sizes 80–84, while double snap attachments make removal and reattachment quick and convenient.

Built to Last with a 2-Year Warranty

Engineered for season after season of dependable performance, this turnout blanket is reinforced where it matters most to withstand demanding winter use. From rough pasture play to harsh weather, every detail is designed with durability in mind. Backed by a 2-year warranty, it delivers the long-lasting protection and confidence horse owners expect from premium winter gear.

81” Storm Shield

"Love this blanket! My guy is a 16hh OTTB who normally wears a 78” but has been gaining muscle. I sized up to an 81” and it fits great! Fantastic quality and warmth. Kept him warm last winter in -20° temps in Minnesota. The attached hood is my favorite as it offer great coverage from the cold. I did not order a belly band with mine and he still stayed plenty warm!"

— Mariah (5/5)

The first blanket shipped to

"The first blanket shipped to me the bellystrap ripped off after one night of use. Schneider warrantied the item without a problem and I had the second blanket shipped out to me within 10 days. After that I absolutely loved this blanket for my 31 year old quarter horse gelding. He was dry and warm even when outside and Maine had an exceptionally cold winter. I have since lost that gelding and it has moved on to our 23 year old saddlebred. So this blanket can fit a diverse group. Would definitely buy this again."

— Tammy (5/5)

Does the job well.

"The first one I received did not hold up at all. The waterproofing failed almost immediately. Schneiders replaced it right away and this one seems to be holding up just fine. We do not generally get very warm, so this is a good weight for most of the time. Fit is pretty good although it's tough to keep up with my horse's body changes. I still like my Amigos and Rambos but if you need a good solid blanket for a less than astronomical price, this is a good choice. And it comes in pink, which is a HUGE bonus! I always know where she is in the field."

— LYNN (4/5)

Perfect for the Need

"My new StormShield sheet is exactly what I hoped it would be. It fits my horse perfectly (size 80). It is strong enough for my older horse who still has some spunk. Michigan late fall has such changeable weather. We don't yet need any insulation, but we often get a cold, windy rain. This protects him from that without making him too hot. The green color looks marvelous on his golden chestnut coat."

— MELISSA P. (5/5)

High Quality Blanket!

"I love this blanket. I can feel the quality just by touching it. It’s nice and thick with some heft. It hasn’t been cold enough to use the medium weight yet, and I’ll only be using it when it gets to extreme temps. My horse is unclipped and sweats very easily so for the most part I’ll be using his lightweight, but I’m positive this will keep him warm when it gets in the teens or even negative temperatures, plus I can easily layer it with the lightweight if I need to. It fits well and is easy to adjust- he has a high neck carriage and it’s perfect for him. He also looks very handsome in it which is nice because he’s very vain! I cannot find a single fault. I don’t have a picture of him wearing it but this photo is for reference to his body type. He’s 15 hh and lean. He’s still growing and this blanket will give him room when he fills out more."

— Jodee W. (5/5)

Best turnout sheet we have

"The stormshield turnout sheet is simply the best sheet we have in our barn. We use it on our young thoroughbred gelding and despite his best efforts, the sheet stays in place and keeps him nice and dry and warm in the cool fall weather here in the mountains of Colorado. The original color is an ordered was backordered and Schneiders was absolutely perfect to work with on finding a replacement color. Cannot recommend both the blanket and Schneiders more highly."

— Matt H. (5/5)

StormShield Blankets

"I LOVE IT! Great quality, great fit, great price. I bought the sheet after I bought the mid weight, because I knew exactly what I was buying. I highly recommend, and would buy both blankets again."

— Kim (5/5)

For the Price it's Great

"I purposely bought a less expensive blanket for my 3 year old filly on the off chance she decides to destroy it. She only tolerates belly band ones and that's what I prefer anyways. I wish this one came with an adjustable neck since front close blankets run a little big in the chest but it fits her nicely besides the front section. It is not as nice of quality as some of the other blankets I've purchased from them (the more expensive ones) so I'm not expecting it to live as long however, I do love the color, and wouldn't trust my horses in anything else. Once the filly has proven she won't destroy it I'll upgrade her to their heavier duty ones. I did purchase the matching neck blanket and it's perfect!"

— Lillie S. (4/5)

Posy loves her sheet

"Absolutely love this sheet. Fits my 11h welsh pony. She wears it alone as well as wearing it on top of winter blanket. Keeps her nice and dry"

— Allie (5/5)

This is the 1st time

"This is the 1st time I have been disappointed in a blanket I have gotten from SS Tack. The 1st time I turned my horse out in some rain, he came in with large wet spots on both his wither and dock of his tail. It is like the water is leaking through the seam where the neck is sewn on and where the tail flap is sewn on. Of course, it has been worn now so I can't return it. Can't recommend this blanket if you want to keep your horse dry."
