Schneiders® Congress Cathedral Bit

The Congress Cathedral Bit has a 5" mouthpiece, 6 5/8" cheeks, and a 3 1/4" port with a 7/16" bit diameter. The 5" mouthpiece is a standard size that works for most horses, but you should always measure your horse's mouth to ensure a proper fit—there should be about a quarter inch of space on each side when the bit is in your horse's mouth.

Yes, this bit is specifically designed for seasoned, finished Western pleasure horses. Customers report that it provides lots of control with softness and helps keep horses responsive to light cues, making it an excellent choice for well-trained pleasure horses that are responsive to subtle aids.

The copper inlay promotes salivation, which helps keep your horse's mouth wet and responsive. A salivating horse is typically more relaxed and comfortable in the bit, contributing to better overall responsiveness and a softer feel in your hands.

The 3 1/4" port applies pressure to the bars and palate while reducing tongue pressure, which encourages horses to break at the poll and lift at the shoulder. One customer noted their horse adjusted well to the high port without complaint, showing that it can be effective for teaching proper head carriage when used with experienced hands.

This bit is ideal for seasoned, finished Western pleasure or working cow horses that are already trained and responsive to cues. It's designed for horses that benefit from a bit that promotes light, responsive hands and proper collection rather than horses just starting their training.

Absolutely. The bit's design—with its port that applies pressure to the bars and palate while reducing tongue pressure—encourages horses to break at the poll and lift at the shoulder, which are the key elements of proper collection. This makes it ideal for refining the head carriage and frame of well-trained horses.

This bit combines a high port design with copper inlay to promote salivation and responsiveness while keeping riders' hands light. Customers report it provides excellent control with softness, making it stand out as a bit that rewards sensitive riding and works well for horses that are ready to move beyond basic training.
