Too large for the average horse

"I wish I had read reviews before I bought these last year. Only was able to start using them this year and after less than 2 hours, my horse (a 15h Morgan) slipped one completely off and the other one slipped down so he was walking on it and tore it up. They'd probably work great on a warmblood or small draft horse. It would be helpful if the velcro part was bigger where they could be tightened more. An unfortunate waste of money IMO, and a lesson learned to read the reviews before buying."

I love the height of

"I love the height of these as they go all the way up my mustangs leg. I like the fleece at top and bottom to keep them from rubbing. However, they need more Velcro adjustments. I run out of Velcro and can not get them tight enough to stay up. They keep slouching down and end up under his hooves. I don't think they are going to last long with him stepping on them after they ride down his legs. . ."

If your horse has a summer sore you need this

"We are new to Florida and my horse cut his leg breaking a fence. Next thing I know the cut won’t heal and became a summer sore. I ordered two pairs they are very durable and Velcro has not worn out. If you are trying to protect your horse’s legs and any cuts from flies these are perfect. My horse’s sore is almost gone now and these fit tight enough no flies can find their way inside. They do not rub though."

Good concept, but needs work

"I was pretty thrilled to find boots this tall, because I have two pintos who have tall white stockings that will sunburn. Unfortunately they just don’t seem to be sized to fit most horses - maybe if you have a very heavy boned one. The boots twisted and sagged on the mare I bought them for no matter how they were adjusted. I shrugged it off as she’s pretty fine boned and put them on the other pinto, who is a lot heavier boned (think L SMBs) and taller. Nope. Same problem - and this time the twist and sag caused swelling and soreness in the tendons on one front leg that hung around for a week, as well as a big raw rub spot on the back of the pastern. A real shame, because these aren’t cheap. Photo attached is the finer boned mare."

Great idea but not ideal

"I wanted to love these. I needed taller leg guards and they definitely are that. The problem is the velcro leg guards doesn’t get tight enough. The velcro is super strong which is great but it needs more velcro to tighten the leg guards more. I needed to use duct tape because the entire leggings slipped off! I’m now going to wash them and sew on more velcro so I can tighten them more b"

I like the concept of

"I like the concept of the extra tall fly boots and I think they would work great, but they need to have more adjustment down around the hooves/bottom velcro latch. My mare wore them one time and the one boot slipped down (even after I had the velcro as tight as I could get it so it would stick) and she wore holes through the back of the boot from walking on it because it slipped down. For context, she is a 14. 3 hand paint/stock type mare."
