The most accurate and easiest way to determine your horse’s blanket size is to measure along the side of their body, from chest to tail. First, stand the horse square on a flat surface. Measure from the center of the chest, straight back to the very edge of the tail. Make sure to measure along the widest part of their shoulder and hindquarters. The number of inches measured in this way is your horse’s size. Look on the size chart for any Schneiders blanket for this number of inches to order your horse’s perfect size.

"I should have read all the negative reviews. Seems like they are aware of the belly band issue. I have no problems with the fit of other blankets in her usual size but this one doesn’t let me close the belly band even fully extended. My horse is not overweight. Company won’t let me return it because I wrote on the tag, even though the blanket is unused and clean. Very disappointing."
"Finding a good fit for my 15. 1 hand Oldenburg mare who's built a bit like a Quarter horse is challenging. Blankets and sheets tend to ride back and pull hard across her chest. Her previous Weatherbeeta sheet fit well otherwise but was super tight right where her neck met her shoulder and it put a lot of pressure there. That can't be comfortable or healthy! Two things that could be improved: The velcro at the front of the chest is a little small or wimpy. Sometimes when the staff at the boarding barn put it on and don't line it up very carefully, it comes undone right away. Second, the tail cover sticks straight out the back so it's a little hard to know if it's providing much protection. It's just a bit awkward. Final note: there are a lot of metal rings on this setup that jingle when she walks. Not necessarily a problem but just something to know."
"The fit is odd. The rear surcigle hook is either back too far or up too high, it creates an uneven fit. My horse is not rough on blankets but in less than a week this had a tear in it. And one of the snaps broke and no longer closes. I also had the same issue as another poster. No matter how much I adjusted it, when he bent to graze it got way too tight. Sorry I spent the money on it."
"I got this for my mare that has severe allergies. I needed something that would give full coverage but that she could wear all summer long without overheating. This fly sheet is pretty lightweight considering how much coverage it gives! The belly band helps tremendously with that. I've struggled with hoods falling down over time, but not with this product! "I first tried this fly sheet on my 17. 2 hh guy who can be tough on his sheets. That was 2 years ago and it’s still in great shape. I purchased 2 more for my 2 girls. We live in the southeast USA and it’s hot and humid and there are a lot of bugs. This fly sheet is comfy for them with the elastic panel between the attached neck and the sheet, and the belly band offers perfect protection and adjustability. The material is breathable. It is my favorite fly sheet by far."
"I had high hopes after seeing the reviews, but this fly sheet is terrible. Save your money. It Rubbed our pony’s shoulders almost raw, and deer flies got up underneath it and on top of her butt of all places. This poor little mare worked herself into a lather doing hot laps trying to get rid of the flies that got up underneath it. Thankfully I was home to catch her and get it off. The black part that connects the neck to the blanket also holds a TON of heat."
"I originally purchased another sheet that I was unhappy with. Schneiders immediately reached out and offered a refund so I could buy something that fit my horses needs better. This fits perfectly, (size 78 with a size L neck piece) keeps her cool, and does a great job with keeping the flies and mosquitoes away from her skin. Will continue to buy these for my other horses."
"I called Schneiders to discuss if they made a fly sheet to fit a Connemara that was built like the older lines of quarter horses. In essence a stocky horse. So I purchased the sheet and hood last summer and the velcro will not stay together and the sheet slides back and velcro comes apart on top of putting pressure on his shoulders when moving and grazing. In addition when it comes apart the rough part of the velcro rubs my horse’s shoulder. So I tried using the 1st D ring but it was not an option as the sheet would remain open under neck if it was used. The sheet is very sturdy but doesn’t fit a stocky horse unless he’s a statute that never moves. Also the velcro on the hood will not stay closed either when hooked to a halter or not. If I buy a larger size I feel it would just slide back and again be in the same situation. Disappointed for sure as I have always liked Schneider’s products."
