Schneiders® Angled Offset Wooden Stirrups

These stirrups feature a 5" wide foot bed by 2 7/8" wide, with a tapered neck that ranges from 1 1/4" to 2 1/2", making them compatible with most standard English saddles. The angled offset design works well across various saddle types, but it's always a good idea to measure your current stirrup bar width to ensure a proper fit. If you're unsure about compatibility, our team at Schneider Saddlery can help you confirm dimensions before ordering.

Wooden stirrups offer a warmer feel in your hands and can be easier on your joints during long rides compared to metal. Rosewood is an excellent choice because it's naturally dense and insect-resistant due to the wood's oils and resins, meaning it won't rot or degrade over time like softer woods would. This durability combined with its timeless aesthetic makes it a premium option for riders who want both performance and longevity.

The angled offset design is engineered to support better foot position and balance in the saddle by naturally aligning your leg beneath your body. This ergonomic positioning can help reduce strain on your ankles and knees during extended rides, while the 5" foot bed provides stable, sure-footed support. Many riders find that this design encourages proper stirrup length and overall seat stability.

The leather-bound bar and foot bed require basic care similar to other leather tack—regular cleaning and occasional conditioning will keep them supple and prevent cracking. The Rosewood itself needs minimal maintenance thanks to its natural insect resistance and density, but you can periodically wipe them down to maintain their appearance. Avoid leaving them in extreme moisture for extended periods, as you would with any quality leather equipment.

These angled offset wooden stirrups are designed for English riding disciplines where proper foot alignment and balance are key, such as hunter/jumper, dressage, and eventing. While some trail riders do use English tack, these stirrups are optimized for the balanced seat and refined technique of English riding rather than the heavier-duty demands of Western or all-day trail work.

These stirrups weigh 2 lbs per pair, which is relatively lightweight and won't add significant burden to your saddle. The weight is well-distributed thanks to the dense Rosewood construction, so you'll get excellent durability without feeling heavy when mounted. This balance of substance and lightness makes them ideal for riders who want quality equipment without excess weight.
