"This is perfect for children to hop on and ride around in. Quality is good for this price range and age group. I would replace the straps with thicker nylon or leather and be sure the horse will be comfortable in a smaller tree but otherwise it is ready to go."
"Bought this for 4 yo & up grandkids to use on my 14. 1hh Quarter horse. Shortest stirrup adjustment is too long for toddlers, but I used a stirrup buddy over the horn, so a lead line toddler can have stirrups until they are big enough for the actual stirrups. Saddle has QH bars, so it fits a horse, unlike a pony saddle made for the little guys."
"I love the quality of this saddle. I've spent 3x as much for another saddle that is of equal quality. Saddle will size down to fit the little kids. I would think preschoolers to 7 or 8 years of age can fit safely. This saddle does have real tooling and not just stamped. It also came with a nylon latigo and off billet. The con's are the stirrup leathers are lined with nylon. While this is great for adult saddles where you don't want the leathers to stretch, it doesn't make sense on a little kids saddle. It adds bulk and makes the stirrups a bit tougher to twist and adjust. Also this saddle was stored prior to me receiving it with the stirrups over the top of the seat. So the leather side jockey is lifted up by several inches. I'm hoping using some saddle oil on the underside will allow the side jockey to relax and lay flat with the stirrup leathers."
