Whether you're treating lameness, chronic pain or an injury, you'll find a vet wrap here for the job. In general, they're made to offer slight compression - which increases the flow of lymph fluid, lessening swelling and pain - without restricting circulation or worsening pain. These high-performance equine leg wraps provide important protection for a horse's legs, preventing them from "stocking up," using modern materials and horse health expertise.
What is "Stocking Up"? "Stocking up" is a kind of swelling in the horse's lower legs (known as edema) which can occur during periods of time when the horse is inactive. It occurs when fluid pools in the tissues. During exercise, this fluid is moved into the horse's circulatory system and the legs return to their normal state. Treatment involves administering compression, which can be achieved with a horse leg wrap from our store.
Standing wraps for hoses are often used while stabled, or in a stall, to help prevent or reduce the edema or swelling in a horse's legs. Horse bandages may contain various layers depending on if you are wrapping after surgery or a wound or injury. Sometimes a horse bandage may need a few layers of dressings, then padding or cotton wrap, followed by the leg quilt, and then a track bandage or conform bandage. Some horse owners prefer to use what are known as No-Bow wraps. These are often made from a thick fleece material with plenty of padding, that can help prevent a "bandage bow" from wrapping too loose, too tight, or improperly.
