Hot Water, Anywhere — The Moment You Light It

Attach a hose, start the igniter, and water comes out up to 40°F warmer at up to 1.4 gallons per minute. Runs off a standard 20 lb propane tank for up to 18 hours, and rolls where you need it on the included cart.

The Problem

Cold Water Baths Are Costing You Time, Calm, and Clean Results

It's 6 a.m. on a show morning and your horse is coming off a hard workout. The sweat is cooling fast, the temperature dropped overnight, and you know what has to happen — he needs a bath before he can load. You turn the hose on and immediately regret it. The water is ice cold, pulled straight from a ground line that's been sitting in 40-degree air all night. Your horse pins his ears, stomps, and starts dancing sideways before the spray has even touched him.

It isn't only a fall and winter problem. Even in midsummer, water running through buried lines can be shockingly cold in the early morning, before the day has had a chance to warm the pipes. You can be standing in 85-degree sunshine while cold water pours over your horse's hindquarters. He tolerates it, but nothing about the experience makes him look forward to the next one.

Then there's the clock. Trying to get your horse clean before a class, a sale, or a vet visit when he won't stand for the hose wastes time and frays nerves, and it rarely produces the finish you wanted. The bath that should take twenty minutes stretches to forty-five, and you head toward the ring already behind.
Why It Keeps Happening

Every Workaround You've Tried Has a Fatal Flaw

The problem isn't you, and it isn't your horse. The usual warm-water workarounds fail because they solve only one piece of bath day: heating a small amount of water, finding power near the wash rack, or carrying everything from one place to another. Each workaround adds another step before you ever wet your horse.

Heating buckets on a stove or at a utility sink sounds practical until you picture the whole bath. A five-gallon pail covers only part of your horse, so you repeat the trip while the first batch cools. You carry weight through the aisle, manage lids and splashes, and try to keep the next bucket warm without leaving your horse tied and waiting. The routine can work for a quick spot clean, but it turns a full bath into a relay race.

An immersion heater changes the temperature in one container, but it still depends on an outlet, a cord, enough buckets, and time for each batch to warm. It does not create a continuous hose-fed stream at the wash rack. If the nearest receptacle is across the barn aisle, you are also arranging a cord around doors, wheelbarrows, and foot traffic before you begin. Waterless shampoo and extra currying avoid that setup, but they cannot replace a full rinse when mud, sweat, or soap needs to come off.

Then comes the fixed-infrastructure trap. A plumbed water heater can serve one wash area well, yet it keeps you tied to that location and adds installation work before the first bath. It does nothing for the outdoor wash pad, the trailer, or the showgrounds hose bib. So you keep choosing between cold water, a bucket procession, or skipping the bath you planned. None of those options gives your horse steady warm water where you actually need it.
  • Cold ground water turns a twenty-minute bath into a forty-five-minute argument
  • Extension cords strung across a wet wash rack
  • Buckets heated at the house that go cold before you finish one side
  • A plumbed heater that serves one wash area and nothing else
The Solution

Propane-Powered Warmth, on a Cart That Rolls Into the Trailer

The Insta-Hot® Original Portable Washing System with Cart heats water on demand from a propane source instead of depending on anything plumbed in. Connect your garden hose, attach a standard 20 lb propane tank, start the igniter, and water comes out up to 40°F warmer than your supply line — at up to 1.4 gallons per minute, with no tank to fill and wait on.

One 20 lb tank runs the unit for up to 18 hours of use, and the igniter runs on two D-cell batteries. Neither the tank nor the batteries is included, so you can source both locally.

The unit measures 12 by 15 by 4 inches and weighs 10 pounds. Mount it permanently in a wash stall, or leave it on the Insta-Hot Cart and roll the whole setup right into the trailer — barn, horse show, garage, shed, or camper, at home or on the road.

The design accounts for barn conditions. A louvered vent top keeps the heating unit clean and protected from falling debris while creating a draft for efficient combustion: more heat, less gas. A safety tilt switch shuts the unit off if it tips out of its standard position, and it shuts off automatically after 20 minutes of non-use. A removable drain valve lets you empty it before a freeze so the water pipe and regulator don't take the damage.

The box includes the Insta-Hot 2 unit, gas regulator line, a 25-foot hose with brass nozzle, universal brass couplers, plumber's tape, wall mount plugs, and instructions.

At Schneiders, family-owned since 1948, this is one of the most practical pieces of barn equipment we carry — because it solves a real problem with nothing more than a hose connection and a propane tank.

What Riders Are Saying

★★★★★

"I just recently purchased the Insta-Hot System and have used it a couple of times. So far, I am very pleased with the ease of use and the warmth of the water. My only complaint is that the cart is not very sturdy and the hinges at the bottom do not lock securely causing the cart to fold. I hope I can find a solution so I can stop worrying about it folding up while in use - this is the reason for the 4 stars and not 5."

What's Included — And Why Each Piece Matters

The heater unit is the heart of the system — delivering on-demand hot water at a consistent, adjustable temperature without a storage tank. The integrated cart positions the heater at the optimal working height, protects it from barn floor hazards, and rolls easily on any surface. The included hose is specifically rated for hot water continuous use — unlike standard garden hoses that degrade quickly under heat stress.

Together, these three components create a washing station that rivals what you'd find at a professional grooming facility — at a fraction of the permanent-installation cost. At $399.99, this is the complete solution for horse owners who are done compromising on their care routine.
  • Heater unit with adjustable temperature control included
  • Purpose-built cart with integrated hose management
  • Hot-water rated hose — no degradation under continuous use
  • Connects to any standard outdoor water source
  • Portable — use at home barn, boarding facility, or show grounds
