Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Dura-Tech Heavy Fleece Dress Dog Coat good for short-haired dogs?

Yes, this coat is especially designed for short-haired dogs. The heavy double-layer fleece provides significant warmth, and customers with short-haired breeds like Dobermans report it keeps their dogs comfortable even in cold weather. The plush fleece works well as both a standalone winter coat and as an additional layering piece.

How does the sizing work for the Dura-Tech dog coat?

The coat comes in multiple sizes including medium, large, and XL. Customers report the sizing runs accurate, with owners of 55lb pit bull mixes finding large to be a perfect fit and XL working well for larger breeds like Dobermans. It's recommended to measure your dog to ensure proper fit for the wrap-style belly design.

Can the Dura-Tech fleece coat be adjusted for different dogs?

Absolutely. The wrap-style belly design has hook and loop closures on both sides that allow you to adjust the fit as tight or loose as you prefer. This adjustability also makes it beneficial for anxious dogs that may feel more secure with a snugger fit.

Is the Dura-Tech dog coat easy to put on and take off?

Yes, customers consistently praise how easy it is to put on and remove. The coat pulls over your dog's head with a soft fleece collar and fastens with hook and loop closures on the sides. Many owners report it's simple to train dogs to stand for dressing, and the strong velcro makes attachment secure.

Will the Dura-Tech fleece coat stay in place during activity?

Yes, customers with active dogs report the coat stays put. The sturdy hook and loop closures hold very firmly, and the wrap-style design keeps the coat in place even during play. The soft lycra-bound edges won't rub or shift, providing comfort throughout the day.

What materials is the Dura-Tech dog coat made from?

The coat features a heavy double-layer fleece that's plush and warm, with a soft fleece collar that won't bind or restrict movement. It includes soft lycra-bound edges and hook and loop closures, with contrasting trim and silver piping for a dressy appearance.

Is the Dura-Tech fleece coat water-resistant?

While customers find the fleece warm and effective for cold weather, one reviewer noted they pair it with an insulated rain coat for wet conditions. The heavy fleece is designed primarily for warmth rather than water resistance, so it may not provide adequate protection in rain or snow.

Can the Dura-Tech dog coat be worn all day?

Yes, it's designed for all-day comfort. The soft fleece collar doesn't bind or restrict your dog's movement, and the adjustable wrap-style belly allows for a customized fit. Customers report their dogs enjoy wearing the coat throughout the day without discomfort.

Great dual purpose clothing

"We love this for our dogs. We use it as both an after-bath drying coat and also as a warm, chest-covering, layer under some of their other clothing. Having something dual-purposed was important. Very happy with this purchase."

When life gives you Ice, get THIS coat and chill!!!

"I purchased the Dura-Tech® Heavy Fleece Dress Dog Coat for my Dog AFTER she went through an Ice Storm. We live in the south, and you never think such a thing could happen, but it did. No Power for 2 weeks, No water, No internet, no nothing. After suffering a whole week, we drove to family up north (you read that right) and spent the next month staying warm there. But in that first week, when we were at a neighbors staying warm, our dog was at home freezing. (I know, these people I live around don't bellieve in inside dogs) That’s actually the reason we drove north. She really lost it in that week. I would describe it as having ptsd. And I’m not kidding. I saw this coat online and decided she would never go through anything like that ever again. Believe it or not, the coat actually began to bring her out of her terrible ordeal. Here she was in the north, in the snow, and WARM!!! Everything turned around for her after that. She was her old self again! Then we went back home. So far, so good, but should we need it, (and we will) her coat is hanging in the mud room, just waiting for her! Thank you for making such an awesome coat!"

Great dress coat for your dog

"Great dress fleece, nice heavy weight for everything except the most extreme weather temperatures. Easy on/off, easy to train your dog to stand for dressing, my pup likes the comfort of this blanket. Heavy duty Velcro. Wish it came in other colors but that didn’t stop me."

— Marcy K. (5/5)

3 warm dogs!

"We moved from AL to MA (BRRRRR!) and our southern dogs needed coats. On the recommendation of our vet tech niece, we went online to Schneider's to shop for the warmest fleece jackets we could find. The fleece is super thick and cozy, the velcro holds very firmly and the coats are super easy to put on. We love that the fleece wraps all the way around so their tummies are covered too! Best buy ever."

— Louise B. (5/5)

Love this Fleece!

"This is very well made. Quality fleece and it fits great! Our girl loves this fleece! She is a 55lb pitbull mix and I ordered a large. The price was also great! Thanks Schneiders!"

Large dog blanket

"I purchased theses longer length dog blankets, it’s the BEST PURCHASE I’ve made in a long time. I have a larger Golden Doodle and it actually covers her butt, wraps around snuggly with Velcro! I’m sure she’s loving it! We’ve been in the “below zero” temps this winter! I’m so glad I did a long search for one as I LOVE this one! Thank you for making this smaller version of a horse blanket! Fits her perfectly!!"
