Schneiders® Arabian Low Port Black Steel Bit

This bit features a 5-inch mouthpiece, which is the standard size for most Arabian horses and similarly sized breeds. To ensure proper fit, measure your horse's mouth from the corner of one side to the corner of the other side—you want about 1/4 inch of play on each side when the bit is in place. If you're unsure about sizing, we recommend consulting with your trainer or reaching out to our team at Schneiders for personalized guidance.

This bit is made from polished black steel with a sealed finish that naturally develops a patina and light rust over time—this is actually a desirable feature! The rusting process encourages salivation, which creates a softer, more comfortable mouth feel for your horse and promotes better responsiveness to your cues.

This Arabian bit is specifically designed for both training and daily riding, making it a versatile, reliable everyday option. It delivers the same balanced feel and performance as show tack while being practical for regular use, so you won't need to swap bits between schooling and competition.

The 5-inch mouthpiece includes a copper inlay that adds comfort and provides taste stimulation, encouraging horses to accept the bit more willingly and salivate. Copper is a popular choice among bit makers because many horses respond positively to its flavor and warmth.

This is a mild leverage design with 8-inch cheeks and an attached slobber bar, making it a gentle option suitable for most horses. The 1 1/2-inch low port provides gentle tongue relief and distributes pressure evenly across the bars of the mouth, promoting a softer, more responsive connection.

The sealed finish means this bit requires minimal maintenance—simply rinse it after each ride and allow it to air dry. The natural rusting is part of the bit's design to encourage salivation, so you don't need to polish or treat it; just wipe away any debris and store it in a dry location when not in use.
