Schneiders® Slow Twist Full Cheek

The Schneiders Slow Twist Full Cheek has a 5" mouthpiece with 6½" full cheeks and a 9mm bit diameter, making it suitable for most adult horses. The longer shanks and full cheek design help prevent the bit from pulling through the mouth, ensuring proper fit and function. If you're uncertain about sizing for your specific horse, we recommend measuring your horse's mouth or consulting with a trainer.

Copper is sweet to the horse's taste and naturally promotes salivation, which increases mouth softness and acceptance of the bit. This material choice makes the Slow Twist Full Cheek an excellent training bit for horses that need encouragement to relax their jaw and respond with lighter hand pressure.

This bit is specifically designed to increase response with minimal hand motion, making it a great training tool for teaching balanced movement and suppling exercises. The full cheek design with longer shanks and brass bushings between the mouthpiece and cheek creates targeted pressure on the tongue and bars of the mouth, helping horses understand cues more clearly.

Yes, the product is designed to work with bit loops for added stability and leverage. Using bit loops is recommended, especially during training, to prevent the bit from rotating and to enhance control.

The Schneiders Slow Twist Full Cheek features stainless steel rings and cheeks paired with a copper mouthpiece and brass bushings, making it a well-constructed, durable option. Customer reviews confirm it's very well made, and the quality materials mean it will hold up to regular training use.

Stainless steel and copper are both relatively low-maintenance materials that resist rust and corrosion. After each use, rinse the bit with water to remove dirt and saliva, and periodically check the brass bushings for wear. Proper storage in a dry location will keep this bit in excellent condition for years of training.
