Key benefits

The Fly Sheet With the BEST Insect Protection AND Airflow

This fly sheet is the best for insect protection and airflow. The 350D extra fine “window screen” nylon mesh protects against the widest range of biting insects, such as tiny gnats, mosquitos, and flies. It’s extremely breathable and stays cool in direct sunlight, providing 40% UV protection. The fabric withstands playful turnout, making this perfect for your horse to wear all summer with a 2-year warranty!

What’s the Difference Between Fits?

This fly sheet is available in five fits: VTEK® Wither Relief, VTEK® Wither Relief V-Free® Wither Relief, Attached Neck V-Free® Wither Relief, Attached Neck VTEK® Wither Relief, and Cutback Wither.

Our VTEK ® Wither Relief fly sheets are designed to prevent rubbing and relieve pressure on moderate to high withers. The upright shoulder and shape over the withers are designed to fit Thoroughbreds, Warmbloods, Appendix horses, or those with upright shoulder conformation. It includes an extended drop to cover a deeper heartgirth and they are shaped with darts at the hips to give a more contoured fit around the rump. Extends 6 to 8 inches onto the mane with fleece placed where the mane meets the sheet, further preventing rubbing.

Our Attached Neck VTEK® Wither Relief fly sheets fit the same as our VTEK® Wither Relief sheets but come integrated with an attached neck cover. It’s designed to prevent rubbing and relieves pressure on moderate to high-withered horses, allowing full protection from ears to tail. The neck cover is attached with a 15oz lycra that stretches as the horse puts their head down to graze. This stretchy panel prevents the rest of the sheet from slipping forward and maintains coverage no matter the conditions.

Our V-Free® Wither Relief fly sheets are designed to prevent rubbing and relieve pressure on low to moderate-withered horses. With the larger neck opening and sloped neck line that covers the shoulders, this fit is designed specifically for Arabians, Quarter Horses, Stock breed horses, or those with sloped shoulder conformation. The drop on these sheets is longer than a stable sheet, allowing a slight wrap around the barrel. Darts at the hip form a contoured fit around the rump. V-Free® Wither Relief sheets begin where the mane ends, leaving the mane uncovered with fleece placed where the mane meets the sheet, further preventing rubbing.

Our Attached Neck V-Free® Wither Relief fly sheets fit the same as our V-Free® Wither Relief sheets but come integrated with an attached neck cover. The neck cover is attached with a 15oz lycra that stretches as the horse puts their head down to graze. This stretchy panel prevents the rest of the sheet from slipping forward and maintains coverage no matter the conditions.

Our Cutback Wither fly sheets cut away at the withers to provide a rub-free fit for horses with high-head carriage and a lower wither. The larger neck opening and sloped net line cut back for the withers make this the perfect design for Arabians, Fresians, Saddlebreds, and Tennessee Walkers.

Fly Fit Guide

Adjusta-Fit® Your Sheet for the Perfect Fit!

From the widest Warmblood to the narrowest Thoroughbred, our original Adjusta-Fit® system allows you to customize the fit of the neck opening to fit any horse. Whether your horse is wide or narrow or has a high or low head carriage doesn't matter. The Adjust-Fit® feature runs along the neckline of the blanket, so when in use, it lifts the front chest, pulling the blanket up into the base of the neck. It allows you to fit any width or head carriage, saving money and time when blanketing your horses.

Choose Between an Open or Closed Front Option

The open front option features double front snaps with new and improved wider hook and loop closures, allowing you to easily adjust the fly sheet for the perfect amount of “snugness” at the front of the chest. Plus, the snaps make it easy to put on and remove.

The closed front option has a “deep v” front that allows your horse to put their head down without pulling the blanket forward. The lack of hardware and hook and loop closures eliminates any rubbing, which makes this option extremely comfortable.

SilverTek® Lined Chest, Shoulders, and Tail

A breathable 70D SilverTek® Nylon lining has been included on the front chest, shoulders, and tail flap. This technology has proven antibacterial properties that reduce rubs, odor, and irritations that may cause your horse discomfort during the hot summer months. When it comes into contact with bacteria or other microorganisms, the silver ions are released from the fabric, distributing their cell membranes and interfering with their metabolic processes. As a result, growth is inhibited, reducing the number of bacteria on the fabric’s surface. This keeps your horse healthier and the fabric cleaner, even after extended use and wear.

Better Gusset Design for Additional Freedom

The reinforced gussets extend higher and more forward to allow a greater range of motion when your horse gets up from lying down, walking, or playing in the pasture.

Closure Options for Better Protection

Choose between a surcingle or bellyband closure for comfort and protection, with brass-plated hardware that resists fly sprays and detergents corrosion.

The criss-cross surcingle closure option adjusts to keep the fly sheet from sliding side to side. Comes with locking bands and detachable elastic leg straps for increased security.

The bellyband closure option protects from flies and midges biting along the sensitive underbelly. Hardware is positioned to avoid rubbing or poking while your horse is lying down, and the t-post hardware on the bellyband closure includes locking bands and incorporates elastic inserts for more give as the horse moves since the proper fit is with the bellyband snug and flush to the belly.

SilverTek® Lined Extra-Large Tail Cover for Extra Protection

The extra-large tail cover protects from flies attacking the sensitive area underneath the tail. The added SilverTek® lining reduces potential hair breakage, keeping your horse’s tail fuller and looking better!

Reflective Stripes for Added Safety

For extra safety precautions, we’ve added highly visible reflective stripes on the flanks and tail for extra visibility in low light and night turnout.

Leg Straps Included

Set the sheet at the optimum snugness with the included detachable elastic leg straps that help keep the sheet in place. They adjust from 20" to 38" and stretch as the horse moves with double brass-plated snaps for easy on and off.

2-Year Limited Warranty

This fly sheet has been constructed with extra care and is under warranty for two years. Straps, surcingles, assembly, and hardware are guaranteed for the warranty term.

Reviews

Belly band doesn’t fit

"I should have read all the negative reviews. Seems like they are aware of the belly band issue. I have no problems with the fit of other blankets in her usual size but this one doesn’t let me close the belly band even fully extended. My horse is not overweight. Company won’t let me return it because I wrote on the tag, even though the blanket is unused and clean. Very disappointing."

Love these. Bought 2 last

"Love these. Bought 2 last year and it really allows the mares to stay outside without the fly aggravation. Great quality. The belly band provides comfort for the flies that get under them. The fine mesh allows air flow and keeps the hair coat from getting fried. Bought 4 more for the broodmares this year"

DONNA W. (5/5)

Working well on hard-to-fit mare

"Finding a good fit for my 15. 1 hand Oldenburg mare who's built a bit like a Quarter horse is challenging. Blankets and sheets tend to ride back and pull hard across her chest. Her previous Weatherbeeta sheet fit well otherwise but was super tight right where her neck met her shoulder and it put a lot of pressure there. That can't be comfortable or healthy! Two things that could be improved: The velcro at the front of the chest is a little small or wimpy. Sometimes when the staff at the boarding barn put it on and don't line it up very carefully, it comes undone right away. Second, the tail cover sticks straight out the back so it's a little hard to know if it's providing much protection. It's just a bit awkward. Final note: there are a lot of metal rings on this setup that jingle when she walks. Not necessarily a problem but just something to know."

Thoughtful Design

"I appreciate how well thought out this flysheet design is. There is lining in all of the right places to prevent rubs. I am not worried about the neck cover causing mane loss. The mesh provides good coverage from flys and mosquitos. I live in the southeast and I find that this mesh doesn't trap much heat. As always I appreciate that Schneiders has matching product lines. I have purchases a flymask and fly boots to go with the sheet."

Sydney (5/5)

Disappointed

"The fit is odd. The rear surcigle hook is either back too far or up too high, it creates an uneven fit. My horse is not rough on blankets but in less than a week this had a tear in it. And one of the snaps broke and no longer closes. I also had the same issue as another poster. No matter how much I adjusted it, when he bent to graze it got way too tight. Sorry I spent the money on it."

Wonderful

"I got this for my mare that has severe allergies. I needed something that would give full coverage but that she could wear all summer long without overheating. This fly sheet is pretty lightweight considering how much coverage it gives! The belly band helps tremendously with that. I've struggled with hoods falling down over time, but not with this product! Highly recommend this product."

Abby m. (5/5)

Awesome sheet

"I have a gelding very sensitive to bugs, especially mosquitoes. And unfortunately due to circumstances out of my control, we’re going to be moving from the best, lovely dry climate to a swampy mess of humidity and bugs. So I wanted to find him something before we get there. I love the fit, true to size, and it’s the first fly sheet that I’ve seen that I feel confident he’s not going to overheat in. On top of the fit, fabric, and construction I think it looks pretty nice too. Only thing I find odd is the tail cover. It’s huge. And it poofs out so far in the back that it just seems like a waste of time ; bugs can easily still be up in his tail. Maybe a little less fabric is needed for that… idk?? Looks like he’s got an awning off the back of his butt. Not sure what the design was supposed to do but besides that the sheet is great."

KB (4/5)

My fav fly sheet, worth every penny!

"I first tried this fly sheet on my 17. 2 hh guy who can be tough on his sheets. That was 2 years ago and it’s still in great shape. I purchased 2 more for my 2 girls. We live in the southeast USA and it’s hot and humid and there are a lot of bugs. This fly sheet is comfy for them with the elastic panel between the attached neck and the sheet, and the belly band offers perfect protection and adjustability. The material is breathable. It is my favorite fly sheet by far."

KAREN A. (5/5)

Too stiff, rubbed shoulders almost raw

"I had high hopes after seeing the reviews, but this fly sheet is terrible. Save your money. It Rubbed our pony’s shoulders almost raw, and deer flies got up underneath it and on top of her butt of all places. This poor little mare worked herself into a lather doing hot laps trying to get rid of the flies that got up underneath it. Thankfully I was home to catch her and get it off. The black part that connects the neck to the blanket also holds a TON of heat."

Great customer service and a very happy horse

"I originally purchased another sheet that I was unhappy with. Schneiders immediately reached out and offered a refund so I could buy something that fit my horses needs better. This fits perfectly, (size 78 with a size L neck piece) keeps her cool, and does a great job with keeping the flies and mosquitoes away from her skin. Will continue to buy these for my other horses."
