Contour Collar Euro Fit Guide Designed with a Contour Collar Euro fit, this blanket accommodates both sloped and upright shoulder conformations and is well suited for horses with a low to flat shorter wither, balanced muscle tone, and smoother, flatter topline appearance. Measure chest to tail, along the side of the body across the widest part of the shoulder and hindquarters. If you land between sizes, size up — a snug fit causes pinching and rubs. Designed with a Contour Collar Euro fit, this blanket accommodates both sloped and upright shoulder conformations and is well suited for horses with a low to flat shorter wither, balanced muscle tone, and smoother, flatter topline appearance. Multiple Warmth Levels for All Weather Types

On those bitter cold, windy or snowy days our Heavyweight turnout blankets, stuffed with 380 Grams of toasty Insulation, are the best choice. If your horse is body-clipped or has a short, thin coat, choose Heavyweight for temperatures between 20 - 40 degrees F. If your horse has a medium or thick coat, Heavyweight blankets can be worn between 15 - 30 degrees F.

Bellyband Closure Provides Greater Protection

Bellyband closure provides greater coverage and protection from the cold. Hardware is positioned to avoid rubbing or poking while your horse is lying down, and the rear surcingle includes a stretch panel for more give as the horse moves, since the proper fit is with the bellyband snug and flush to the belly. Comes with locking bands and elastic leg straps for increased security. Brass plated hardware resists corrosion from water, manure and detergents.

Front Snap for Easy On and Off

Snap front with Hook & Loop Closure allows you to adjust to the perfect amount of snugness at the front of the chest. Double snaps allow for easy on and off.

Additional Freedom From a Better Gusset Design

Reinforced gussets extend higher and more forward to allow greater freedom of motion for the shoulder which prevents rubbing on shoulders.

Large Tail Cover

Enlarged tail cover provides additional protection from heavy wind and rain.

Leg Straps Included

Detachable elastic leg straps help keep the blanket in place. Our leg straps adjust from 20” to 38” and will stretch as the horse moves. Set at optimum snugness and use the chrome-plated snaps for easy on and off.

"The first one I received did not hold up at all. The waterproofing failed almost immediately. Schneiders replaced it right away and this one seems to be holding up just fine. We do not generally get very warm, so this is a good weight for most of the time. Fit is pretty good although it's tough to keep up with my horse's body changes. I still like my Amigos and Rambos but if you need a good solid blanket for a less than astronomical price, this is a good choice. And it comes in pink, which is a HUGE bonus! I always know where she is in the field."

High Quality Blanket!

"I love this blanket. I can feel the quality just by touching it. It’s nice and thick with some heft. It hasn’t been cold enough to use the medium weight yet, and I’ll only be using it when it gets to extreme temps. My horse is unclipped and sweats very easily so for the most part I’ll be using his lightweight, but I’m positive this will keep him warm when it gets in the teens or even negative temperatures, plus I can easily layer it with the lightweight if I need to. It fits well and is easy to adjust- he has a high neck carriage and it’s perfect for him. He also looks very handsome in it which is nice because he’s very vain! I cannot find a single fault. I don’t have a picture of him wearing it but this photo is for reference to his body type. He’s 15 hh and lean. He’s still growing and this blanket will give him room when he fills out more."

"The stormshield turnout sheet is simply the best sheet we have in our barn. We use it on our young thoroughbred gelding and despite his best efforts, the sheet stays in place and keeps him nice and dry and warm in the cool fall weather here in the mountains of Colorado. The original color is an ordered was backordered and Schneiders was absolutely perfect to work with on finding a replacement color. Cannot recommend both the blanket and Schneiders more highly."

Heavy duty & fits well

"Love these. The higher level sheet, Extreme II, with 1680 denier is pretty tough and holds up well. The design fits a variety of horses. The colors on the 1680d are also fancier with more of a sheen. They are heavier than the other version, in case that's useful to know. These are our go to blankets, in any weight. But we have been really disappointed that in the last few years, Schneiders has used cheapened/ lower quality items for the belly straps & metal clips. They are now very lightweight, so flop around more, making them harder to adjust and clip, outside in the wind. More importantly, now they are too slick, so they belt straps often loosen overnight, which represents a safety issue for getting a leg hung up. I wish they would fix this. Sometimes the leg straps are barely long enough. Happy to pay the few extra dollars they must save using these, to go back to the quality they were before."

The color is way off.

"The color is way off. The photo makes it look like a rust/orange. It’s not. It is definitely just plain brown. The 82 seems bigger than other brands, but the 80 was too tight in the shoulder. Customer service is friendly but they seem to not ship out until inquire back about the status of my order. This has happened 3 times now"

"The fit is great and my horse seems very comfortable in it. The outer garment is quite durable but the lining ripped after about a month for some reason (which didn't seem to have anything to do with an external stressor of any kind). After repair, it washed up quite nicely. The outside still looks like a new turnout. We'll be using it again this winter."
