"Nice quality halter and lead. Easy to adjust and safe with break away feature"
Dura-Tech® Deluxe Fully Padded Nylon Breakaway Halter
Padded Everywhere It Touches, and It Breaks Before Your Horse Does
Padded everywhere it touches and made to break before your horse does: 1-inch double-ply nylon with padding under the nose, cheeks, curb and crown, and a leather breakaway tab that gives under a hard pull. A spare tab comes in the box.
1
The tab breaks so the horse doesn't
A leather breakaway tab joins the cheek to the crown. Catch the halter on a fence or a hook and the tab tears before the neck or the poll takes the load. A second tab comes in the box.
2
Padded under nose, cheek, curb and crown
Fleece-backed padding at every contact point on 1-inch double-ply nylon web, so a halter worn all day in turnout doesn't rub the hair off.
3
Adjusts at the crown and the curb
A buckle on the crown and adjustment on the curb dial the fit between sizes, and a snap at the throat takes it on and off without re-buckling.
4
Hardware that holds
Heavy-duty brass-plated hardware on reinforced holes, from Yearling/Pony to Oversize. Add a brass nameplate.
Finding the Right Fit
Measure once, order once. Most horses nail their size on the first try.
1
Measure nose, cheek and crownNoseband length, ring-to-ring cheek, and over the poll. Match to the chart; allow half an inch.
2
Buckle the crown, set the curbTwo fingers between the noseband and the face; the noseband two fingers below the cheekbone.
3
Snap the throatThe throat snap takes it on and off without touching the crown buckle again.
4
Check the tab after a scareIf the leather tab has torn, fit the spare from the box before the next turnout.

What Horse Owners Are Saying
★★★★★
This halter is very comfortable for my horse and is holding up well with daily use. It is hung up outside most of the time and has not faded or dry rotted. I purchased the blue color and it is still vibrant. It also cleans up easily with a quick blast from the hose. I like knowing that the breakaway section is there for his safety. No complaints and would purchase again.
★★★★★
Very nice quality halter, comes with a replacement breakaway piece, so that s nice. Size runs small, out to last hole for my quarter horse. Would size up if your horse is on the larger side.
★★★★★
Love this style of break away halter. It actually has a second leather section , so if her breaks it, you can use the halter again without having to purchase a new one. First time I have seen this style!

Comfort All Day, and a Safe Way Out
A turnout halter has two jobs: not rub, and let go. The Deluxe Padded Breakaway does both. The 1-inch double-ply nylon web is padded under the nose, cheeks, curb and crown, so a halter worn all day does not wear the hair away, and a leather breakaway tab between the cheek and crown tears under a hard pull before the horse's neck takes it; a spare tab is in the box. Heavy-duty brass-plated hardware on reinforced holes, a buckle on the crown, adjustment on the curb and a snap at the throat. Yearling/Pony to Oversize, in seven colors, and it takes a brass nameplate.

Hardware Didn’t hold up
"Have only had for about a month and the hardware is already chipped and rusting"
Padded Break-Away Halter
"I bought two of these halters a year ago and love them. They have held up well and I especially appreciate the stiffness of the nose band which holds its shape as you're putting it on the horse. . . so it doesn't end up in their mouth because it has flopped. The colors have also held up well. The fit is great."
Great fit
"This halter fits better than other halters, and the padding is a nice comfort feature. Highly recommend."
Dura Tech padded nylon breakaway halter.
"This is probably the 4th or 5th halter I've bought over 20 years, and I've always bought the same kind. It's sturdy and handsome, and does indeed break away as needed. It can also be repaired as needed with the included break away strip. (Just so you know, my beloved Spencer died Feb. 28. The halter he was wearing will probably be the last one I'll be buying; I'm 92 now. He went severely lame 2 years ago, and I had to stop riding him after that. This past very ugly winter just wore him out. . I knew he could never be sound again but hoped he could be a pasture pet for many years yet, but it wasn't to be. )"
