Feeding Notes: For horses with calcium deposits or bone spurs (including ringbone and sidebone), it is important to eliminate synthetic Vitamin D3 and outside sources of calcium from the diet. TLC Animal Nutrition, Inc. suggests replacing commercial grains and supplements containing these ingredients with their own feed ration (see "Feeding Suggestions"). Replacing alfalfa hay with grass hay will also help reduce calcium intake and improve control over the catalyst contributing to calcium deposits.
For horses with other injuries like navicular or fractures, there is more versatility to give other supplements along with EQUI-BONE. Switching to the suggested feeding program is ideal, but not typically 100% necessary.
