Perfect hay Rack

The hay manger is perfect. Been hunting one with narrow spaced bars where there wouldn't be any waste like this...now we found it. Not hardly anything to put together . Good price too

Not just for horses!

Although this is for horses, I bought it for my 3 male pack goats since one of them was constantly destroying our other feeders by bashing them with his horns. Not an easy issue to work around! I can't attest to the ease of installation since I had my husband do that, but he didn't complain so it couldn't have been too bad. :) I'm thrilled to have these (I bought 2) - they are extremely solid, hold a lot more hay than my old feeders did, and we mounted them higher than the goats' heads so they can't reach in the top to pull hay out and waste it. I will probably slightly modify these by lining them with woven wire so they can't pull as much hay through and lose it, but it's a great start, and I am very happy with my purchase so far! Who would have known the best goat feeder would be a horse feeder... probably any other goat owner I guess.

easy-up hay rack

This hay rack was exactly what we were looking for. It was super easy to put together and hang. It was just the right size!

Great for my goats

This hay feeder is perfect for my goats and sheep. They are small breeds and we put this low to the ground. They can't get into it like the other one I had with an attached feed tray. It's the perfect size for one to two cakes of hay.

I think I would buy again'

I gave it a four star only because the black paint is pealing on the one bar. I would have liked to have rubber over the screws. What I do love about it is it also acts like a slow feeder. I have a OTTB.It keeps the hay in one spot when it fall our from the horse pulling it out' So it does not get mixed in the bedding and manure. Saves on bedding and hay.

Bought 2 of these hay racks to try them out. They hold 1/2 bale of hay,as stated. They are well made and sturdy. Very happy with them, purchasing 4 more for the other stalls. They also match my stall fronts perfectly.....very nice!

Love this hayrack. The only one I'd have in my barn. Slows horses down some and really cuts down on waste. Tough and easy to fill.

Sturdy and does the job well

We got two of these for our run-in she'd, and they mounted securely to the wall, after my husband figured out how to assemble them! Some instructions would be nice, on how and where to attach the small metal plates that come with racks. Overall, they are great and I really like the bars being close together to slow down the feeding rate.

Happy with the end result of these racks

I must have missed some where that these hayracks needed assembly, but once put together they were as nice as I had hoped.

I would buy this again, & have passed on the word to others

Bars are closer together to allow a slower feed, keeping them busy on the days the cannot go outside. Definitely a good purchase

So I guess it should be obvious, but how exactly are we to put this together? It comes with 4 black plates - do you sandwich them on the bottom bar or do you use 2 on bottom bar and 2 on back bar and only use side holes to mount on wall? The bottom holes are recessed on back as if intended for the bolt head to sit flush....

Just want to do it right

One set of black plates go on the bottom bar and one set goes on the bar on the back.

I have Arabian and Half Arabian horses whose heights range from 15 to 16+ hands. How high off the floor should I place these feeders?

Hi! Hay rack height - bottom edge slightly higher than withers and rump by a couple of inches so they wont rub their butt on it. Deb

We would suggest to hang it at head height.

Customer Service

May I please get the exact measurements from screw hole to screw hole on the width?

Rack comes in three pieces. Assembled the outside screw holes measure 24 ½" at the top and tapers to 22 ½" at the bottom.

How many flakes does it hold?

This hay rack can hold 3 average sized flakes.
